HEAVEN TONIGHT  by Melody    (this if for a Robin Zander and Jamesy fan)

PART 1

Eva searched around frantically, sighing with relief when she spotted Nicky and began walking towards him.  She tapped on his shoulder, smiling awkwardly when he turned to face her.  “Hi Nick, do you have any idea where James is?  I've been hunting around for over an hour and no one seems to have seen or heard him; its like he's vanished into thin air.”
“Oh, hiya honey!” Nicky embraced her warmly, giving her a chaste friendly kiss on her cheek.  “I think he's gone back to the hotel with Robin, those two have become quite friendly according to Martin.”
“Really?”

Eva was more than a little astonished to hear that comment.  James had been getting jealous and angry over her sudden rediscovery of Cheap Trick, often nagging about her constantly playing their cd's and dvds, although, as Eva pointed out, she never did it when he was around, and if he turned up unexpectedly at times, he'd have to put up with whatever she was watching or listening to.
On discovering that Cheap Trick and MSP were playing the same festival, Eva had almost baulked;   James had ranted and raged until his face went red.
“I'll warn that bastard not to put a bloody finger on you!” he screamed.  “You are my fiancée and you will bloody remember that!  No pictures, no talking to him if I'm not there and definitely no damned flirting; I know what you're like remember.”

“What
I'm like?  You cheeky little sod, I have to put up with you cavorting shamelessly with all those women that follow you,” she replied angrily.  “You stand there for ages with your arms around them, kissing and cuddling them for photo's.  You are the one with a roving eye, not me, you two faced twat!”
“You've had a thing about that band and him in particular since, when was it?”
“1977,” she helpfully supplied.
“So I think that I am somewhat justified in being a bit worried.”
“You are bloody paranoid is what  you are!” she retaliated.  “And if I want to talk with him, or have my photo taken with him, I WILL!”

It had been three days before James would talk civilly to her, and that was down to Sean's intervention, his cousin telling James that he was being utterly unreasonable and would end up losing Eva if he didn't come to his senses.  “You are driving her into his arms by behaving like a kid throwing a temper tantrum you know James,” said Sean, scolding him.  “Eva isn't interested in anyone but you, only you are too blinded by what was her first crush to see it.  I warn you James, sort this mess out or lose her; the choice is yours.”

Begrudgingly James had accepted what Sean said, he adored Eva and had never had any reason whatever to suspect her of being unfaithful or even having those thoughts.  She had admitted to him that she found Robin attractive but also that the main attraction to him was his voice, so powerful and changeable; as Greg Kot once wrote:
Zander undercut his pin-up boy image with a voice that had more personalities that Sybil.

Cheap Trick had followed MSP on the stage to do their set, and James had hung around to watch.  He had to admit that he held a grudging respect for them, liking the majority of the the stuff that he had heard Eva playing; not that he would ever tell her that.  That was going to be a secret that stayed between him and his conscience.  When they came off stage James had made a point of going to Robin and congratulating him and the rest of the band on a great performance;
the performance of the festival, he called it.
“That's very gracious of you,” replied Robin, shaking his hand firmly.  “I didn't see you guys but I did hear you and you sounded really good out there.  Man, that crowd really loved you.”

It had been James' idea for them to go for a drink after they had showered and changed, when he discovered that they were all staying at the same hotel, well, that had seemed perfect.
“You'll get to meet Eva my fiancée too, she a really big fan of yours, got all the cd's and stuff,” said James as they were being driven to the hotel.
“So you have to listen to us then?” Robin laughed.  “When are you going to get married then?”
“We haven't organised it yet,” James admitted.  “We've been living together for three and a half years, and only got engaged in April.”
“No point in waiting much longer then really, I mean you guys know one another so well, may as well just go away and do it.”

Both of them sat drinking beer, getting along really well and discussing all manner of different and diverse topics of conversation, the talk and laughter coming easily.
“Will Eva know that we're here?”
“Oh yeah,” answered James nonchalantly.  In truth it hadn't occurred to him that they were due to meet in the hospitality tent and say hello to a few people before leaving for the hotel.  She would be pissed off that he hadn't been there, still, he figured that someone would know where he was; he had definitely told Martin.

Two hours after James and Robin had arrived at the hotel and gone to James' room, Eva arrived, looking non too chuffed with James.
“Oh Robin,” said James standing up quickly and putting his arm around Eva's shoulders.  “This is my fiancée, Eva.”
“Hi, he's been talking about you a lot,” Robin chuckled.  “You're as beautiful as he warned.”
“Cheers for that.  I hope he's behaving himself?”  Her barbed comment didn't escape James' attention.
“Why wouldn't he?” Robin seemed puzzled.
“I erm, I meant is being a good host and keeping your beer topped up and not always hogging the conversation?”
“Oh right, nah, he's being very nice.  Actually I need to go the the bathroom, so, if you'll please excuse me.”

Eva smiled and watched the slim, long blond haired Robin saunter to the bathroom.  In many ways Robin was physically different to James, yet they were so similar.  Both had beautiful brown eyes that could be so mischievous, yet so intoxicating, wonderful smiles that made you melt, and incredible voices.  Robin however was three inches taller than James, and he was very slim, almost skinny, and he had long blonde hair.
Oh to run my fingers through his hair and over that tiny bum, thought Eva.

“Don't worry,” said James, “I like him, he's a nice guy and we have a lot in common.”
She huffed and glared at him.  “Oh, does he not tell his fiancée that he's changed their plans then?  Does he just expect her to pick it up by some sort of telepathy?”
“I'm sorry, I should have called or text you,” he said bashfully.  “I told Martin and assumed that he'd let you know.”
“Your trouble is that some times you just don't think,” she said, then went and got a beer out of the bar.

“Don't be mad at me honey,” whispered James in her ear, his lips nuzzling at the soft flesh beneath, his arms around her waist.  “I'll make it up to you, I promise.”
“We'll see,” she shrugged.  “Oh and if you need a pee you had better go when Robin comes out, I am going to get a shower; I stink.”
“No you don't.”
She gave him her best 'don't mess with me glare', and James immediately knew to cut his losses, she wasn't ready to forgive him just yet.

Eva went through to the bedroom to get some clothes to put on when she'd finished in the shower, leaving James on his own for a moment until Robin came from the bathroom.
“I won't be long,” she said to them both.  “Just need to freshen up.”

When she came out, James and Robin were sat closely together, looking incredibly sneaky about something, Eva had no idea what.  She dumped the empty beer can in the bin and took another one out.  “Do either of you guys fancy another one?”  Both of them did so she grabbed two more beers and went to join them.  “I see you've put more beer in the fridge, good thinking.”
James had asked for a large fridge to be in their room, rather than the usual mini bar, because he had planned to have a get together with Sean, Nicky, Martin, Mitch, and Nick with their girlfriends and wives.  As a result he had bought several cases of beer, lots of wine and a fair few bottles of whiskey as well as some other popular spirits and mixers.

“Enjoy your shower?” asked Robin with a smile, his eyes wandering up and down her shapely legs, that her mini skirt was doing nothing to hide.
“Loved it,” she beamed in return, bending down to give him a view of her unfettered breasts beneath her low cut t-shirt, when she handed him his beer.  James merely smiled at her, taking his own beer from her as though she hadn't done anything wrong. Confused by James' reactions, she screwed her face up; she wanted to antagonise him and pay him back for all the horrible things he had said to her about Robin, but he seemed utterly oblivious to it all.

“I need to go to the loo,” said James, standing up and grinning.  He walked over to Eva who was stood beside a standard lamp drinking her beer.  “Why don't you ask Robin to take you to heaven tonight?” he whispered.  “I've been talking with him, he wouldn't mind if you don't.”
“Excuse us a moment,” said Eva to Robin before dragging James off into the bedroom.  “What is this; some kind of sick test?”
“I thought you'd be pleased,” chuckled James, irritating her further.  “I honestly don't have a problem with it, in fact I may join you both.”
“Oh grow up!” she said and then stormed off, sitting next to Robin.

They heard James close the bathroom door, turned and smiled at one another, the air thick with tension.
“So, did he tell you what we talked about?”
“He said something about us all going to a pole dance club,” she lied, hoping that he'd agree and she'd then know that James was calling her bluff.
“No, that wasn't it at all.  It was about you and me, well maybe all of us getting it on and having a bit of fun.”
“Was it?” she mused, interested that James had been honest.  Had he done this to catch her off guard, or was it because he had thought about it and come to the conclusion that they could all have fun without any strings attached?  As much as she wanted to, was she capable of letting herself go and sleeping with another man?
Ok, she rationalised, he's a guy I've had a crush on since I was young, and the chances are it will never happen again.

“I must confess that I was more than a little confused when he mentioned it, especially after earlier telling me that he'd warned you that you couldn't talk to me and I wasn't  allowed to touch you.”
“Oh he told you?”
“Yeah, we ended up having quite a laugh about it.  He says its ok now 'cos he likes me.”
“That's very big of him,” piped up Eva sarcastically, “I think that I have some say in the matter don't you?”
“Of course I do; I'd never do anything that you were uncomfortable about.”
She turned to face him, smiling broadly at him.  “Why don't we get rid of James for a little while and see what happens?  I don't fancy him watching us, although he could join us later.”

She wasn't sure whether she wanted James to go off his rocker and get insanely jealous, or whether she wanted him to leave without asking questions.  Until now she had genuinely had not contemplated indulging in anything more than a handshake or kiss on the cheek with Robin.  Of course things were different before she had met James, she had fancied Robin like crazy, seeing them in concerts several times and meeting him a few very brief times to get his autograph.  Had this offer been suggested by Robin then, she would have jumped at the chance; she had had no boyfriend at the time, so why not?  Things were so different now though.

James came out of the bathroom.  “I'm surprised that you two aren't getting to know one another a little better.”
“Your good lady is feeling a little awkward with you being around,” said Robin, winking at Eva and holding her hand.
“Why don't I go and then you will have some privacy?”  James strode over to Eva, kissed her and stroked her face, then fished his card key out of his pocket.  “There you go, text me when you're ready for me to come back.”
“Thanks James.”  Eva kissed him back and stroked his arse.
“Have fun,” trilled James, walking out of the room.
