NOBODIE'S FOOL by Ladymozzy Alex Stood huddled at the bus stop. The rain was heavy, not that she cared. Her thick scarf wrapped across her face hid some of the sadness. After two years, her relationship was over. She wanted to blame herself; she thought that might make it easier to deal with. But, the truth was she'd done nothing wrong. Alex had started dating James just after she'd finished uni. Friends had been, well, surprised shy, quiet Alex was suddenly dating a rock star. Not that the experience had changed her greatly. She still hated being the centre of attention and avoided confrontation at all cost. At first she'd shied away from any of James' social events but eventually she'd found the courage to accompany James. He'd given her a sense of confidence. Of course, she'd still hated having her photograph taken and remained horrified when paparazzi snap of her and James made it into the music press. Alex and James had been doing just fine until about a week ago when someone posted photos of Alex with another man to James. He'd always had a slight jealous streak and these photos played up to his insecurities. In a whiskey fuelled fit of rage he'd confronted her with the photos, accusing her of using him, of taking him for a fool. Alex had been taken aback by this side of James she'd heard about, but had never seen. Not once did James ask her if the photos were for real, to which the answer would have been no. Alex had no idea where the photos had come from and even less of an idea who the man Alex had her arms around in the photos were. Alex, frightened of the James she had in front of her, decided not to say anything and wait until he calmed down. Unfortunately, in an act of vengeance, James went out that night, got wasted and got himself photographed snogging lots of other women. The music press the next day gave James the lethario his own double page spread. On seeing the photos, Alex knew there was no point in trying to communicate with James. He didn't return home at all for nearly a week. She wrote him a note to say she was leaving and left it on the kitchen table along with her keys. After packing up most of her stuff, she took one last look at the photo of her and James that stood in a frame on the mantelpiece, picked he bags up and left. The bus slowed down as it approached Alex's stop. She was going to stay with a friend until she could get her head around what had happened. Julie was a mutual friend of both her and James but she was the only one who phoned to find out her side of the story. Julie handed Alex a mug of tea as she walked in the door. It was a great relief to finally have someone to talk to about what had happened. They both made themselves comfortable in the front room and Alex ran through the whole sorry affair. Julie listened and asked questions but she didn't apportion blame. "We'll let things cool down a bit and then we'll take it from there. He's upset, but he still should have asked for your side of things. No point trying to talk to him at the moment, he'll still be fizzing." Alex was starting to figure it went with the territory. James was a passionate man. It made him a great lover but that passion could take him to another extreme. James had never been overly jealous although he did have words with Alex's manager who had spent an entire evening at a Christmas party getting a little too close for comfort. James had seen Alex was trying to politely give him the brush off and when he got a bit too touchy feely, he'd hauled him away and had a little chat. Alex had no idea what was said but the manager left the party a short while later. She was so proud of James for not hitting him, even though he possibly would have deserved it. After watching mind numbing television for an hour, Alex decided to try and get some sleep. Julie had made up the spare room for her. As she warmed up under the duvet, she heard the doorbell ring followed by Julie answering the door. Then she could hear James's voice. Alex sat bolt upright in bed. She was too tired for another argument. "I can't believe you've taken her side," James roared. "Well someone had to James, no one else has bloody well listened to her," Julie retorted. "What's to listen to, I have the photographs." "Alex has never seen that man before in her life. If you'd bothered to ask her, she'd have told you as much." James hesitated, "Well she would say that wouldn't she." Alex sat huddled up on the bed, unsure of whether to confront James or not. She could feel her heart thudding in her chest. "James, did you want something other than to shout and scream at me? Because from where I'm standing, you've had too much to drink to listen to reason. Go home, sober up and think about it. When you're at least ready to listen to Alex, phone me" There was a silence followed by the sound of the door slamming. A few moments later there was a tapping on the bedroom door. It was Julie. "I guess you heard all of that." "Pretty hard not to." "Well I doubt anyone else has given him verbal back about the whole situation so we'll see if he sober up and wants to talk about it in a civilised way." "How did he look?" Alex asked. He may have hurt her, but she couldn't stop caring. "Rough, but most of that will be down to the amount of Jamesons he's been drinking." They both decided to try getting some sleep. Alex struggled to fall asleep, even though she'd barely slept all week. After a few hours of tossing and turning, she drift off. Over the next few weeks, things remained quiet. Alex continued to stay with Julie, who quite enjoyed the company. Being back at work had given Alex some normality. She worked as surveyor so at least she wasn't stuck in an office all day. One Friday evening, she returned to Julie's flat to find James sat on the sofa. Alex stopped dead. James stood up. "Don't worry, Julie knows I'm here. I haven't come to argue," he said. Alex remained still. James looked pale. He obviously hadn't been looking after himself. "I'm sorry Alex. I didn't give you a chance to defend yourself did I?" James said as he sat down on the sofa. "I guess realised you couldn't have an affair pretty much after you left. Added to that, Nicky told me, Sean told me Martin told me. Even that mad old bat in the flat below told me." Alex started to relax. James was calm and even better remorseful. She sat down next to him. "You know I'm bad at arguments. I was never going to speak up while you were in that sort of mood." "Yeah, I know. I'm not proud of the way I behaved. I'm so sorry I hurt you Alex. Everything became a thousand times worse after a skin full of whiskey. I've found out who sent the photos, or rather Martin did. He hired a private detective in case they tried any blackmail. It was just something from my past trying to even a score." Alex wasn't sure what to feel anymore. James put his hand on hers. "I didn't come round earlier because I truly believed I'd blown it. I've been an idiot and I wouldn't blame you if you wanted nothing more to do with me. But it has to be worth a try. That flat just isn't the same without you. If you don't want to come back that's fine but you'd brighten up my life if you did" Alex smiled at James. She'd missed him so much and she'd missed having her own space. James had always insisted on them having their own space. James had him music room and Alex had commandeered the box room. She'd stuck a sofa, a CD player and books in there. Alex looked across at James and kissed him gently on the lips, James replied by repeatedly kissing her neck and playing with her long brown hair. Alex felt her heart speed up and she let out a gasp of pleasure. James, sensing she was enjoying the attention, began to unbutton her shirt and kiss her chest. Alex pulled James head to towards her and began to kiss him passionately on the lips. James pulled away and led her to the bedroom. He pushed her back onto the bed and lent over and straddled her. Ripping open the rest of her shirt, he kissed her all over. Alex grabbed James and teased James by slowly undoing his shirt button by button. Slowing the pace was driving James wild. Eager to speed things up again, James continued to undress Alex, caressing her breasts as he removed her bra and circling her nipples with his tongue making her moan with pleasure. Alex began to unbuckle James' belt. She could feel his hard cock as she undid his fly. Before removing his boxers, Alex ran the palm of her hand across his groin. Groaning with pleasure, James pulled Amy to her feet and completely undressed her before backing her up against the wall. He ran his hand up her inside leg before gently, but firmly stroking her clit. Alex threw her head back, her breathing rapid a shallow. James kissed her neck making her writhe around in ecstasy. She put her lips to James ear and whispered "Fuck me". He was only too happy to oblige. Climaxing within minutes of each other, they collapsed breathless onto the bed. James wrapped his arms around Alex. "Does this mean you're coming home then?" James asked. Looking straight into those gorgeous eyes, Alex smiled. "Yeah, I guess it does." <<< Ladymozzy's stories |
