WHAT NEXT by Janey Abi scanned around the rehearsal hall carefully. No one was paying any attention to her, so slowly she edged her way nearer to the changing rooms. The corridor was well lit although slightly cold, but that didn’t worry her, for very soon she would be nice and warm indeed. Nervously she stood outside the door and held the doorknob in her hand, wondering whether or not she should really do this. Damn, yes she should. Slowly and quietly she turned it; there was a very slight ‘click’, and the she opened the door, stepped inside the room, and then closed and locked the door behind her. It was eerily silent. She had expected the sound of a shower or at least of clothes rustling when they were discarded onto the floor or fresh ones being chosen from the rail. Then it became clear why. He was resting, in the reclining chair near to a corner of the room. He was covered by a robe and appeared to be naked underneath; ‘perhaps he wanted a few minutes rest before he had his shower’ Abi thought to herself quietly. She watched as he stretched out for a brief second and then turned onto his back, his plain dark blue robe now doing nothing to preserve his modesty. He seemed so peaceful, the stress and tension banished from his features for a brief while. He looked young again. Over the last few weeks he had been ageing so much. Problems with video shoots and the tour itinerary compounded by their record company being deliberately obtusive over the song that the guys wanted to have as their next single. The argument had rankled on for an eternity until Martin had stated that if the record company didn’t release the one the guys wanted, they would refuse to do a video shoot for any further singles and would do only a minimum of press and promotion. He had also re-iterated the contractual terms and the record company had then soon backed down. Abi smiled when she saw his face twitch and his eyelashes start fluttering. ‘Wonder what he’s dreaming about?’ she pondered with a large smile. Damn, but he looked handsome. His dark brown hair glistened in the light, and his facial hair was beginning to break through his skin and become noticeable, causing a distinct shadow, making him seem very rugged. She knelt down beside him, her eyes darting up and down his body, taking in the wonder of him. His legs were strong and muscular, slightly reddened from spending too much time in the sun, but sexy all the same. Unable to resist, Abi planted a string of tiny kisses from his ankle to his knee and then from his knee to the invading obstacle of his robe. Carefully and quietly she shifted position and did exactly the same with his other leg, stopping to watch him as he muttered something nonsensical and then settled back into his light slumber. “Baby,” Abi whispered, blowing into his ear, “wake up baby.” He jerked his head, like he was trying to get rid of the offending irritation but remained asleep. Abi smiled to herself and started to gently suckle on his ear lobe. “What the…” he mumbled, rubbing his eyes and trying to get his bearings. “Abi… baby.” His large hands pulled her down onto him for a warm cuddle. “I thought you wouldn’t be able to come.” “I told a teensy weenie white lie,” she giggled, shifting her weight to try to get comfortable on the chair with James. “I thought that it would be a nice surprise.” “Oh it is, it is,” he said, capturing her mouth for a kiss. “You are so beautiful. Even more so than usual dare I say?” “Smoothie,” giggled Abi. “It’s all true,” he smiled, nibbling at her right earlobe. “You are positively blooming.” “Umm,” she sighed. “Care to prove it?” They enjoyed their embrace and kiss. After being apart for a number of weeks it was so good to finally be able to hold, kiss and just smell the familiar scent of each other. They had both missed this so much, and being together again was delicious and exciting. “Come on sweetheart,” whispered Abi, “much as I’m loving this, I’ve booked us into a suite at a hotel well away from the guys, so that we can have some time on our own.” “Well, I’ll still have to go back and collect some clothes,” he muttered softly. “Don’t the others know you’re here then?” “Not apart from Terri, no. She’s also got a suitcase of your clothes so we don’t need to go back to the other hotel at all. For two whole nights there will be just you and me. No interruptions and no phone calls. Do you think you can handle that?” “I should think so,” tittered James in response, planting a light kiss on the bridge of Abi’s cute little nose. “This is such a wonderful surprise Abi, thank you.” “Seven weeks apart was seven weeks too long,” Abi said running her hands over his broad shoulders, “But I was feeling incredibly selfish and wanted you all to myself. Luckily Terri agreed to help me, mainly because you have been behaving like a bear with a sore head.” “Can’t help the fact that I love you and miss you like hell,” he replied. “I kept wondering what was happening, how you were doing, if work was ok and so on. Quick bloody phone calls just frustrated me even more, and the bloody mobile had diabolical reception and kept cutting out. Thank heaven I could read your texts or it would have been even worse.” Abi stood up and then pulled him up in front of her, “come on James, the sooner you get dressed the sooner I can start making that smile spread right over your face, where it will stay for a few days.” With faux regret, James took off his robe and walked to the back of the room where he had left his clothes, “no time for a quick shower for the two of us then?” he asked, grinning madly at her. “Get a hurry on will you!” Abi laughed, handing him his t-shirt. “We can get one when we get back to the hotel, better still, it has a Jacuzzi. Think of the fun we could have in that, especially with some nice cold champagne.” Abi leant against the wall, her eyes taking in the beauty of his toned body that she had been deprived of for so many weeks. It would be so easy for her to give in to her base instincts and start to make love to him then and there, but she wanted more than that. A quickie was all well in good at times, but it wouldn’t satisfy her now, and she knew it. So, she sighed and resolved to wait until they had more time. If she had her way, James would not move from their bed for the whole of their stay. Somehow she had managed to get them both in to Terri’s waiting car without Nicky, Sean, Martin, Nick or any of the crew noticing them. Once safely ensconced in the back of Terri’s car they all laughed madly at the lunacy of the situation. “Anyone we would think we’re having some kind of illicit affair with all this subterfuge,” James smirked, giving Abi a cuddle. “If they got to know that Abi was here, you two wouldn’t get out of there for a month of Sundays,” said Terri evenly. “You know what they can be like – Nicky especially.” “They wouldn’t have been nearly so obsessed if we hadn’t just gone off and got married without telling them,” Abi sighed. “That a dig at me?” smiled James. “As if!” Abi kissed him briefly and snuggled into him. “It was a beautiful day and I will never regret it. I just think that maybe we could have had a party to celebrate so that everyone could have joined in the fun.” “Three months after getting married is a bit late for a party don’t you think? Anyway, we were away for the first three weeks, then we’ve been rehearsing for the tour…” “And now you’re on the tour, I know. Why don’t we do something at the end of the tour then? We could have a combined end of tour party and a wedding celebration party. I could wear my dress for a couple of hours so they can see what I looked like.” “After that couple of hours are you going to go naked then?” “Very funny.” “That’s what it sounded like.” “You’re mad.” “That’s why you love me.” “Sad, but true.” “I know.” “How did you and Terri manage to pull this off without Martin getting know about it?” James asked, sprawling naked on top of the queen-sized bed and drinking a glass of champagne. “It was easy,” answered Abi, cuddling into his warm broad shoulders. “Women are very good at organising things you know, and contrary to popular belief, we can keep secrets.” “Oh I know that,” he kissed her warmly. “You managed to keep our wedding quiet.” “Oh, I’ve got something to show you,” Abi grinned, put her glass on the table, and padded off to search her handbag. She took a piece of paper out, and then joined James back on the bed. James smiled broadly and gave her a big hug and deep passionate kiss. “Bloody hell,” he said, “that’s amazing.” “Isn’t it?” she beamed. “Those tiny arms and legs, and look how clear his head is!” “What makes you think it will be a boy?” Abi asked as James enveloped her in his arms whilst still clutching the scan photograph. “Actually I don’t know, and you know what, I really don’t mind whether we have a boy or a girl. My dad’s going to be cock-a-hoop either way. A granddaughter he can dote on and spoil, and a grandson he can dote on and spoil!” James laughed brightly and nibbled on her neck and the top of her shoulder. “And either way I shall dote on you and spoil you rotten.” “I want you at the next one James,” she sighed. “It’s in another 9 weeks, when the baby is twenty weeks.” “That means…” James grinned from ear to ear as the significance of what Abi had just told him sank in, “… that this is a honeymoon baby.” “It would seem that way,” Abi smiled back. “My luck just keeps getting better and better,” said James. “I wonder what will be next to happen.” “Umm, well if you don’t give your wife one heck of a kiss it could be a divorce,” she winked teasingly at him. “I can’t have that!” he muttered capturing her mouth in a deep passionate kiss, and pulling her body into his for an embrace. <<< Janey's stories |
