A LESSON FROM SEAN by Janey “Sean,” said Nicky happily. “This is Dana, the lucky lady who won the competition.” “Hi,” muttered Sean in a barely audible response, not even bothering to look up from his drum kit. “Don’t take it personally,” advised Nicky, still grinning warmly. “He’s always a bad tempered little bugger.” Dana giggled nervously, unable to take her eyes off the little drummer. “I don’t want to cause any fuss.” “You’re not!” interjected James enthusiastically, wrapping his arms around her and giving her a big hug. “He’d love to teach you how to play a bit, he told us so earlier didn’t he Nicky?” “He did? Erm, yes he did,” stuttered Nicky on noticing James winking at him. “I’d love that! Thank you,” she beamed, her eyes glinting brightly. “Although I’m sure I’ll make one hell of a racket.” “Can’t be any worse than the racket my little cousin makes,” laughed James. “Oi! I heard that you little Smurf,” exclaimed Sean waving his fist even though the beginnings of a smile had started to make their presence felt on his lips. It was hot in the rehearsal room and Dana was pleased that she was wearing a strappy black dress, even if that also meant that she was flashing a sizeable amount of cleavage that wouldn’t go unnoticed. Her fake leopard skin coat was slung over her left shoulder. Well she had to be practical; it would be bloody cold when it came to going home. “Come on then,” called Sean. “Come and get your first lesson.” She looked at him and was relieved when she saw his warm and genuine smile, James and Nicky glanced at one another, raised their eyebrows and smirked when Dana started walking up to Sean and his imposing drum kit. “Well you’re not going to learn anything from there,” Sean sniggered. “You’ll have to sit on my knee, well actually if you perch yourself on my left leg for now.” “Oh,” she muttered, taken aback. “I’m not sure that will be comfortable; for you I mean.” “I’ll manage!” he assured her. “Now come on, I don’t like to be kept waiting.” With trepidation Dana ambled nervously towards him and he twisted on his stool to allow her to take her place, James and Nicky now having a hard time stifling their giggles. “Erm right,” mumbled James before clearing his throat and saying more clearly; “we need to go and erm kinda like, tune up, ya know.” “You’re not staying?” asked Dana. “We’ll be back soon,” said Nicky. “Don’t worry, Sean will take VERY good care of you, won’t you Seanus?” Sean smiled placing the sticks in her hands. “Yeah, we’ll be fine.” Dana looked on, stunned, as James and Nicky left, nudging each other and sharing what seemed to be some secret joke. Sean showed her how to hold the sticks and let her waft them around for a while to get used to the feel of them. “Don’t worry,” he whispered, his warm breath tickling her ear. “I’ll help you.” “I need it,” she giggled nervously. “You’ll do just fine,” he said, taking her hands in his own. “Right, I’ll guide you. Let’s have a bit of ‘You Love Us’ to start huh?” Dana nodded lamely and Sean began to guide her hands over the drums at a seemingly impossible pace as he helped her thump out the beat on the skins. After several minutes he stopped, and she was shocked to find that the muscles in her arms actually ached. This drumming lark was tougher than she thought. “You’re doing ok but you’re too tense,” advised Sean softly. “Close your eyes and keep holding the sticks as I showed you but let your arms completely relax and go floppy so that I have the control. Gradually I want you to take more control until you’re guiding me around the skins. Don’t worry about making a racket, I just want you to feel comfortable with it.” “It will be a tuneless mess,” she laughed, rocking back into him until her cheek briefly touched his hair. “Doesn’t matter,” he smiled warmly, his large brown eyes sparkling with happiness and fun. “You’ll be playing instinctively, learning the different sounds and the positions of each drum. Tuneful can follow later, trust me.” Dana gazed into his glinting brown eyes and was lost, completely and utterly. She was totally mesmerised and it occurred to her just how handsome he truly was, more so than she had ever appreciated, certainly more so than his photographs ever suggested. With her stomach turning somersaults, she allowed Sean to guide her into position, closed her eyes, shivered slightly when his hands took hold of hers once more and willed herself to relax. Seventy minutes later, laughing raucously and good-naturedly nudging and teasing each other, they made their way from the rehearsal hall and walked to the car to take them back to the hotel, Nicky and James had already left. They enjoyed a light meal of chicken breast, jacket potato and salad followed by lemon and lime mousse, the conversation flowing effortlessly throughout. After the meal they had a game of pool and then Dana went to change into her gear for the gig, deciding that she had become to sweaty earlier to be able to continue wearing the dress for the rest of the day. “I thought you’d get changed once you got there,” said Dana when she noticed that Sean was now wearing black leather trousers and a dark red open necked shirt. “No, I take a change of clothes for when I come off stage but that’s it. I can’t be like Nicky who changes when he gets there, then has at least one change during the set and then changes to leave the place; madness if you ask me.” “Well I’ll just grab my bag and I’m ready,” trilled Dana. “I’ve never been backstage before, I daresay it’s a bit frantic.” “Actually it’s kinda boring but I think you may have a lot of eyes on you tonight,” Sean grinned whilst noticeably allowing his gaze to wander up and down her torso and to especially linger on her ample breasts, which appeared to be struggling to stay inside her corset. “Is it too much?” she panicked. “Hell no! You look beautiful, absolutely stunning in fact, and you have a great pair of legs too!” Dana blushed and stared down at the floor. “Maybe the pants are too tight.” “They are perfect,” he said softly stroking her arm and tilting her head up to look at him. “Just like you.” Softly his lips touched hers and slowly he began nuzzling at them but incredibly tenderly, exerting hardly any pressure. No one had done this before and Dana found it heady and intoxicating, so simple yet so erotic. She couldn’t help but whimper and sigh as he continued to torment her with promises of what could be. “We’d better go downstairs,” whispered Sean with a smile after taking his lips away from hers. “Don’t want to keep the driver waiting.” “No,” she replied. “Erm I think that maybe you ought to wipe that lipgloss off.” “Good idea,” he laughed. “Do you have a tissue? Oh and erm, maybe you ought to reapply your lipgloss, it would appear to be a bit smudged.” Nicky, James and Martin all stared at each other with questioning looks when Sean and Dana joined them for the trip to the arena. They all sensed that something was going on between the two of them, but no one could explain why. Dana didn’t sit next to Sean, nor did she spend all her time talking with him or staring at him, in fact she spent the majority of her time talking with Martin about how things had changed over the years and listening to some of his very funny anecdotes. Nor was Sean fawning over her. They couldn’t pinpoint anything, but whilst chatting in the changing rooms prior to the gig getting underway, the three of them were more convinced than ever that something was brewing between Sean and Dana. “Fancy joining me for a night cap James?” asked Dana. Sean, Martin and Nicky had all made their excuses and gone to bed but Dana wasn’t tired yet, in fact she was still on a high from the gig and then from watching and being with them afterwards. “We seem to be the only ones not falling asleep standing up.” “Sounds good to me. My room or yours?” “Yours is nearer if that’s ok.” “Of course it is.” “So, what’s happening with you and my little cousin?” James enquired as he poured them a second glass of whiskey. “Nothing,” answered Dana. “Umm, why don’t I believe you?” “I don’t know,” she smiled, sipping from her newly refilled glass and enjoying the warmth of the liquor as it flowed down her throat. “What makes you ask in the first place?” James studied her intently but she was still calm and composed, giving nothing away. “Just a feeling.” “Sorry to disappoint you or happy to relieve you, whichever one applies!” she laughed. “I just sensed something between you both,” he blushed, afraid he was sounding like a complete prat. “I can imagine you as a couple, I think you go together.” “ ‘Go together’ gee thanks,” smirked Dana, tapping James’ thigh as a rebuke. “Makes us sound like furniture or bloody paint colours!” “Stop it, you know what I mean.” Dana smiled at him and drank some more of her whiskey. “I’m flattered.” James mumbled something utter incoherent and continued drinking his whiskey. Four Months later Dana had stayed in touch with Sean, Nicky and James, regularly speaking with them on the phone, emailing with them; texting and they also sent her frequent letters and postcards. It never ceased to amaze her that she had made such firm friendships and she was forever thankful. “Who the bloody hell is that?” Dana cursed when her doorbell rang; she desperately needed to get her thesis finished and could do without interruptions. Angrily she stomped to the door and opened it. “Oh.” “Any chance I can be invited in because I’ve already had a few of your student mates gawping at me.” “Erm yeah.” Dana stood aside and opened the door fully for her visitor to enter. “I don’t know what to say.” “Hello and I’ve missed you would be nice.” Dana giggled nervously and hugged him to her tentatively. “Hello and I’ve missed you,” she said. “What are you doing here?” “Dana?” “Yes?” “Stop talking! I’ve gone four months without seeing you, holding you or kissing you and I think that that needs rectifying.” “Sean, you never said anything. I thought that you had been teasing me.” “Never,” he sighed, his brown eyes soft and brimming with desire. “James started probing me and I got scared. We’d just met and there I was acting like a besotted idiot. I needed to be sure of how I felt about you and I just couldn’t tell you about my feelings without seeing you, so here I am.” Dana sighed as he clutched her tighter to him. “Actually, if I may be pedantic,” she tittered. “You didn’t really kiss me last time either.” “Yes I did.” He grinned broadly to her and nuzzled at her neck, lightly pinching the tender skin between his teeth. “I distinctly remember wearing some of your lipgloss, and you had to fix it because it was all smudged.” “That was more of a teasing smooch than a proper kiss,” Dana protested guiding his lips down onto hers. “I think that you really need to rectify that Mr. Moore.” “Dare I ask what I would have to do to earn your forgiveness?” His fingers made light work of the buttons and zipper on her blouse and skirt. Finally he gave in to her need for him to deepen the kiss and his tongue probed for entry between her lips; it didn’t take long for Dana to open her lips wider to grant him access. “You have four months of an enforced abstention to make up for.” Her clothes were now in a pile around her feet so she daintily stepped out of them, utterly unashamed with Sean seeing her naked. “And I will make up for it don’t you worry,” he panted on breaking his kiss with her. “If it takes me the rest of my life, I’ll do it.” Dana stroked a hand across his face lovingly. “Now that,” she giggled, “I can cope with!” <<< Janey's stories |
