This breed is often referred to as the "Torti and White" or the "TSW".
A beautiful example of a TSW "Champion Cavy Court Blimey Charlie"

The markings for the Torti and White consist of three colours - black, white and red.  These colours are distributed in square patches of equal size on alternate sides of the body.
Left - top view of 3 lovely TSW residing at Bivoir Stud

There is to be a "centre line" down the spine, and it is a fault for the coloured patches to cross over this.  The coloured squares are to be distinct, without any signs of brindling (mixing of colours).

The ideal face pattern is to be half/half, opposed to a blaze, however it is only a penalty to have the blaze, not a disqualification.

these two photos are of the same cavy (which also happens to be crested).  On the left, you can see that she has clear cut patches of colour, while on the right she is missing a patch of red - therefor she is not showable

Ideally, there is to be 4 or more coloured patches on each side, but definately at least one of each colour.

This is a breed that a good show animal is very hard to come by as so many of the babies born in the litter have markings in the wrong spot,  You can tell straight from birth whether the babies can be shown or not.
Although these newborn babies are extremely adorable, all of these babies have their colour patches positioned wrongly and therefor are unshowable.

One can never plan the coloured pattern for baby TSW.  It is such a "pot luck".  Two beautifully show marked parents, dont necessarily produce showable babies.  The same can be said about 2 non-show parents, producing nicely marked babies.
above - this shows a clear example of "brindling", which is a mixing of 2 colours.

Common breed faults are:
Brindling of colours, bands (patch of colour going around the body), belts (patch of colour going half way around body), unclear patching, blazes.
