To get to this point; I previously owned a 1980 Chevrolet Malibu
Classic, 2 door hardtop. The car was painted grey, and equipped with a
305, and a turbomatic 350 transmission. This car was a total piece of shit.
The frame was rotten at the back, and the floor was rotten as well. The
body was mediocre, and the interior sucked. I was caught by cosmetic appearance
cause it had decent paint. I was a sucker. $600 was paid for this car (Canadian).
Then I bought a 1980 Monte Carlo, from a local guy for $1000, for a rolling chassis. The car was perfect underneath, ready to rock and roll after I shoved an engine and transmission into it. I also bought my 4-bolt 350 from the same guy I bought the Monte Carlo from - Some Assembly Required.
At an auction; I acquired my TH700-R4 Transmission. Freshly built, for a HUGE, $35 dollars Canadian, because no one knew what it was; and the guy that built it was there, and is a buddy of mine. So I asked him what it was; and he told me.
And we arrive at my current car. A 1979 Chevrolet Malibu, 2 door hardtop.
Equipped with a 3.3L 200ci V-6, and a turbomatic 350, it's not exactly
what i was looking for in power, but frame and body - great. Solid frame
with new rails at the back, and a real straight body. This is the car that's
being modified. I bought it from a guy in London for $350. The ad for this
car was brought to my attention by a friend of mine in my computers class
at school. The car needs some minor work; and upgrades will be done along
the way. Final aspirations for this car are a TPI powered big block, and
6 speed manual transmission with a Ford 9" rear end and sticky tires. We'll
see what the future brings.
