Razor: I also read that you beat out Jerry Springer to play the role of Zeus in an operatta about Helen of Troy, written by AC/DC's lead singer.

Malcolm McDowell: Did I really beat out Jerry Springer? I didn't know that. Well, Brian Johnson (AC/DC frontman) is a mate of mine. I think he's an amazing talent. He's written this amazing music for Helen of Troy, and he wants me to do Zeus. I didn't know he'd offered it to Jerry Springer first. (Laughs)

R: That may have merely been one of those goofy Internet reports. I couldn't quite find the throughline - Jerry Springer to Malcolm McDowell.

M: I can't imagine. But who knows in this business.

R: Sounds like a celebrity boxing match.

M: Could be. It's wonderful music. He's written me a fabulous song, "It's Good to Be God".

R: Is it now?

M: Oh yes. (laughs) And because of AC/DC, Brian sees me flying in on a trapeze over the audience and all this stuff. It's going to be hilarious if we ever do it. And I am going to do it; I've always wanted to do a musical.

R: Really?

M: Why the fuck not? It'd be fun to attack the stage. I'm actually a better stage actor.
