Disclaimer/Author’s Notes: I don’t own Labyrinth. Labyrinth and its characters belong to Jim Henson. Hellaka and Leetris belong to me. Thanks to dawn for her idea of how to tell Sarah’s parents about how Sarah knew Jareth.
Explanations
Sarah kept going through her mind of an excuse but nothing came to mind. She had to come up with something to explain Jareth’s presence and why he looked a mess. But what could she do? She couldn’t just say to her parents that this is the Goblin King and a few months ago he kidnapped Toby. She had to come up with a logical explanation. But there was only one excuse she could use, she didn’t want have to use but ‘desperate times call for desperate measures’ and she was desperate.
When her parents walked in the room they noticed Sarah sitting on the couch, differently. Walking to the other side, they saw Jareth. They both looked hard and long at the man and then Sarah. Karen had the look of ‘why is there a man in my house’ when her stepdaughter was babysitting.
“Sarah,” Karen started. “You better have a good explanation. We were only gone an hour and we come home to a man sleeping on the couch.”
“First of all,” Sarah started to fume, but then lowered to her normal tone of voice, “this man isn’t sleeping, he’s unconscious.” Now it was time for the excuse and it had better be a good. “His name is Jareth and after I put Toby to bed, he knocked on the door. I’ve dated him a couple times. When I opened the door he collapsed. With him being tall and heavy, I just got him here to the couch. I was about to get up when you walked in.”
Through Sarah’s eyes, she hoped that the excuse was believable. When she looked at her father and then back to Karen, she knew that they believed her story. Sarah let out a low sigh of relieve, glad that they bought it.
“Is he going to be all right?” Karen asked.
“Yeah, I think so,” Sarah said.
“He looks like he’s been attacked,” her father said.
“Sarah, I think we can handle things from here. You better head off to bed, you do have school in the morning,” Karen said.
Since Sarah’s venture through the Labyrinth, she hadn’t argued with her stepmother as much. Sarah went upstairs without a fuss. When she reached her room, she quickly grabbed some paper from her desk drawer and wrote a note for Jareth, in case he woke. For a couple more hours, Sarah waited in her room, until her parents went off to bed. She crept back down stairs to find Jareth still unconscious on the couch and there was a blanket over him.
She folded up the paper and placed it under his arm and quickly went back upstairs to bed. She knew he’d find it but her parents wouldn’t. She had to tell him what was going on if he was to awake to find her parents in the room.

“Thank you, Sarah,” a voice whispered.
Sarah looked around, finding herself in a room. But this time the room wasn’t black it was a gray with white mist everywhere.
“Who are you?” Sarah asked the voice.
Through the shadows, Sarah was able to see a figure moving. The body was moving towards her with grace. When the person was close enough, Sarah could see that it was a woman, a very beautiful woman. The woman wore a gray poetic sleeve gown. Her long blonde hair flowing, straight down her back.
“Sarah, I am the one who has been sending you dreams, Hellaka,” the woman said with a gentle voice.
Sarah gasped and stared at the woman.
“As Jareth told you, I’m the keeper of dreams and for quite sometime now, I’ve been living aboveground. With my powers, I was able to escape the evil clutches of my sister, Leetris. You must return of the Labyrinth and help regain the throne back. Jareth must have told you about the prophecy?”
“Yes,” Sarah said slowly.
“Good.”
“Why does Leetris want the Labyrinth?” Sarah asked.
“Leetris is the oldest and therefore believes she should rule the whole Underground. Jareth is actually our half brother. We all have the same father and Jareth is only half fae. Since Jareth is only half fae, Leetris believes he shouldn’t have been offered the throne.”
“Jareth is half human?” Sarah gasped.
“Yes, his mother was full human. A long time ago, a woman fell into the Labyrinth by someone aboveground, she wasn’t meant to travel through the Labyrinth. An evil sorceress sent the woman to the Labyrinth but at that time the sorceress didn’t know there was a Labyrinth. The Goblin King felt bad for the woman and he soon learned that she was a princess.
“Within time, the King fell in love with her and he offered her his castle and she took the offering with pride and became immortal. Once the princess became Queen, she took revenge on the sorceress, her mother, and made her go through the Labyrinth. Of course the sorceress failed and was turned into a creature for her failure and jealously. Jealously is what made her throw her daughter into the Labyrinth in the first place.”
“If…Jareth is your half sister,” Sarah said. “That would mean…”
“I’m also older than him. My mother died during childbirth and when the princess met the Goblin King she fell in love with me and with her powers she turned me into the keeper of dreams. I was only a baby but Jareth wasn’t born until after I was an adult.”
“What happened to the princess?”
“No one really knows. She still could be alive but we don’t exactly know. She disappeared shortly after the King passed his kingship to Jareth. I believe Leetris had something to do with it.”
“Why are you telling me all of this?”
“You need to know what your up against and to understand the family history. I soon have to send you back to the waking world. You will find me in your waking travels and once you find me, you’ll know. Take care of yourself and Jareth. Between the two of you, you can prevail but you have to place your differences aside. For the time being, you’ll have to forget that you ever defeated him. If Leetris was to find out that you are the one who defeated him, then she’ll be able to destroy you. Good-bye for now.”
Before Sarah could move the gray room started to disappear.

Sarah awoke to the sound of her alarm clock. It was a new day and she had to go to school. She got up to start her usual day, expect this time it was going to be different. She knew she was going to have to talk with Jareth alone and she was hoping that he would be conscious. There were still a few unanswered questions. Though Hellaka answered most of the questions, there were still a few that only he could answer.
(Yeah, another chapter complete. And this time there are no cliffhangers and the chapter is even
longer than the other two. I hope the explaining family line was done well
enough. There are too many brother stories out there and I wanted to do
something new. Get more into the ancient mid evil magic. I think this novel is
becoming a fantasy. What do you think? I would love to hear your suggestions
and if I like your suggestion, I’ll put your name in the Author’s notes and
state that you gave me a suggestion for that chapter.)
