Pest

Asteroid 6817, Pest, was discovered January 20, 1982 by Anton Mrkos at Klet Observatory at Cesky Budovice, Czech Republic. It was named for Pest, the largest of the three towns that form Budapest (the others are Buda and Óbuda). Pest has a period of 3 years, 185 days.

Budapest

Astrologically, Pest seems to indicate what its name suggests: being a pest (bothersome, pertinacious), pestilence (communicable disease), or pestilential (fostering pestilence or to be avoided).

Joseph McCarthy had Pest in the ninth house, square the Midheaven (career, reputation) and opposite the East Point (the way the world sees you).

Gennifer Flowers has Pest square Jupiter (the law, prosperity), biquintile Chiron (self-wounding) and opposite Pallas (politics). Being a glorified celebrity stalker of a man she had an extramarital affair with long ago has enriched her far beyond what she deserves, on account of the virulent nature of Clinton's political opposition.

Bill Clinton has Pest on the Midheaven in the tenth house of career, reputation and authority, square Neptune (lies) and the East Point.

Filmmaker Elia Kazan, who is still held in deep contempt by many liberals for naming names when Joseph McCarthy's anti-communist witch hunt came to Hollywood, had Pest sesquiquadrate Mars (aggression, anger) and trine Neptune (film).

Ralph Nader, a longtime gadfly to corporations and those he perceives as their sympathizers, has Pest in the eleventh house of politics and love received, quintile the Sun (to shine) and trine Uranus (activism).

Marilyn Manson, who is blamed for crimes committed by teens who don't even listen to his music (not that it matters) and harried with lawsuits and prosecutions, has Pest semisquare the Sun, sextile Mercury (ideas, writings, speech, the media), square Venus (singing, art, values) and trine Chiron.

Princess Diana, who was stalked nonstop by the paparazzi from her marriage to Prince Charles until her last breath (literally) had Pest in the ninth house of publishing, sextile Mercury (the media).

Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man in America to be elected to public office, had Pest in the eighth house of sex and legacies, trine Venus and quincunx Mercury.

The notorious "Typhoid" Mary Mallon (born September 23, 1869, in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, UK), who spread typhoid fever through her work as a cook and violently refused to cooperate with police and public health officials until she was forcibly confined on North Brother Island in the East River off the South Bronx shore, had Pest square Mars (the police, aggression) and trine Saturn (rewards, consequences, authority, imprisonment).

Barry Marshall (born September 30, 1951, in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Australia), who was instrumental in proving that ulcers were caused by a bacterium and were treatable with antibiotics, has Pest semisquare the Sun and square Pluto (research).

Jesse Lazear (born May 2, 1866, in Baltimore), an army doctor who ended up sacrificing his life to prove that mosquitoes carried yellow fever, had Pest square Neptune (sacrifice, altruism) and the Nodes (connections, giving out and taking in).

The glyph for Pest is mine.
