Asteroid 14014 Munchhausen was discovered on January 14, 1994, by German astronomer Freimut Borngen at the Schwarzchild Observatory in Tautenberg, Thuringia, Germany. It has a period (year) of 5 years, 128 days. It was named for German hunter, soldier, and famed teller of tall tales Baron Karl Friedrich Hieronymus von Munchhausen (1720-1797).

Baron Munchhausen is the namesake of a pair of psychological disorders, Munchhausen syndrome,, whose sufferers deliberately make themselves sick, and Munchhausen syndrome by proxy, whose sufferers deliberately make others (like their children) sick.
Asteroid Munchhausen may indicate Munchhausen syndrome or Munchhausen syndrome by proxy, or hypochondria, but mainly indicates the telling and/or believing of lies, especially big ones told repeatedly and routinely. Munchhausen is the real-life manifestation of the adage "talk is cheap when the story is good."
A good example of this is former president Bill Clinton, who has Munchhausen at 19 Virgo 15, in his 12th house of secrets, trine his 8th-house Taurus Moon (ruler of his 10th house) and square his 9th-house Gemini Uranus(main ruler of his 5th house) and his Nodal axis in 9th-house Gemini/3rd-house Sagittarius. As president, he was caught attempting to conceal two extramarital affairs, and a vast and ever-growing quantity of lurid groundless tabloid rumors have been circulated about him, his family, and his associates, and are treated by some as fact. Most of the tales about Clinton have to do with his sex life(5th house, Moon in 8th house) and his conduct as a public official(10th house), many of which revolve around his well-known left-leaning political philosophy(Uranus); the Internet(Uranus) is frequently used to disseminate these stories.
Danny Almonte(born 7 April 1987, time unknown, Moca, Dominican Republic), the star Little League pitcher who was disqualified after it was discovered that he was 14, too old to play Little League, has Munchhausen at 18 Aries 39, conjunct his Sun(celebrity), trine his Sagittarius Saturn(hard work, rewards, penalties), and sextile his Gemini Chiron(learning experiences) and Aquarius Juno(the disadvantaged). His parents evidently tampered with his birth records and flouted American immigration law in order to get him into American Little League baseball. His predominantly Hispanic South Bronx team had all games he played with them forfeited and records and titles he achieved with them voided and its founder, who has done this before once, has been banned for life from association with Little League, as has Almonte's father. Almonte continues to insist that he's two years younger than his true age.
Charles Manson has Munchhausen at 28 Cancer 22 in his 4th house, conjunct his Cancer Pluto and Leo Ceres, square his Aries Uranus, Nessus & East Point in the 12th house, and semisquare his Leo Black Moon(mean) in the 4th. He was sent to reform school in Indiana at age 12 by his low-class mother, who gave birth to him as an unmarried 16-year-old, basically for being a burden to her, and he has been in jail most of his life ever since; he is extremely unlikely to be freed from his current state of incarceration. He is known as a very persuasive and charismatic liar.
