McArthur

Asteroid 13622, McArthur, was discovered on April 26, 1995 by the Spacewatch Project at Kitt Peak Observatory near Sells, Arizona. McArthur has a period of 5 years, 279 days.

It was named for computer programmer Guy McArthur (born 1971), of the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, who did important work on the 2001 Mars Odyssey space probe project.

Astrologically, though, McArthur seems to have more to do with what is associated with the most famous person bearing the name McArthur or MacArthur, World War II hero Army General Douglas MacArthur: returning, comebacks, "old soldiers never die, etc.".

Douglas MacArthur

Grover Cleveland, the only US President to serve nonconsecutive terms, was defeated for re-election in 1888 by Benjamin Harrison, who he defeated four years later for a second term. Grover Cleveland had McArthur square Juno (public persona, marriage).

His wife, Frances Cleveland (born July 21, 1864, in Buffalo, New York) brought to the role of First Lady a sense of novelty and excitement (she was attractive, only in her twenties and also gave birth in the White House), She had McArthur sextile Chaos (a new order), square the Sun (to shine), and trine Uranus (excitement) and Bienor (exuberance).

Bill Clinton successfully convinced the voters of Arkansas to give him a second chance as governor after they threw him out of office after his first term. He won a second term as president in 1996 not long after being written off by pundits following the Republican takeover of Congress. He has been nicknamed the Comeback Kid. He has McArthur semisextile Dioretsa (foolish, going off course, sticking), sextile Nessus (predators), trine Pandora (to make a splash, have an impact) and quincunx Venus, Pluto (regeneration, power, transformation) and Ixion (second chances).

Washington, DC politician Marion Barry (born March 6, 1936 in Itta Bena, Mississippi), who was forced to resign as mayor after being caught on tape smoking crack in a hotel room with a prostitute, was re-elected mayor after his release from prison, and then was elected city councillor, has McArthur conjunct Cruithne (branded, a brand name), undecimal Asbolus (something to say), sextile Mercury (ideas, thinking, speaking) and Damocles (transgressive, drastic change, crisis, trouble, experience of groupthink), and trine Jupiter.

Alcee Hastings (born September 5, 1936 in Altamonte Springs, Florida) was elected to a seat in the US House of Representatives from a south Florida district after being impeached and removed from a federal judgeship by Congress. He has McArthur conjunct Huya, semisextile Deucalion, decile Mars, sextile the Sun and Uranus, square Okyrhoe (criticism, listening to one's own voice), Cyllarus (because one can), Hidalgo (to assert, promote or defend), Lilith (accepted with reservations), Hylonome (popular demand, popular support) and Varuna (grown big), and trine Chaos (activism, something groundbreaking, a new way of doing things).

John Ashcroft was appointed US Attorney General by George W. Bush shortly after losing a bid for re-election to his Missouri Senate seat to a dead man, Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan, who had died in a plane crash after the deadline for withdrawal from the race. Ashcroft has McArthur semisextile Huya (something missing, service to others), decile the Sun, sextile Dioretsa, and trine Rhadamanthus (acting as a judge).

The glyph for McArthur is mine.
