KEY BISCAYNE

(Translation from Diario La Provincia (22th March 1999))

Magüi plays today against Serena Williams

The Canarian tennis player Magüi Serna will face this afternoon the American Serena Williams in the third round of Key Biscayne. The two players have faced three times: in Los Angeles, Moscow and Australia.

Magüi defeated the American last year in these days in Indian Wells, in two sets, while the American took revenge in Moscow, where she won in the tie-break of the third set. Their last match was this year in the Australian Open. That time the youngest of the Williams sisters won.

All this would mean this match to be uncertain, but if we are realistic, we should take into account the good moment that the American is having. The American has just got the two most important wins in her career after defeating the controversial French player Mauresmo in the final of Paris Tournament and winning later the Indian Wells tournament against the German Steffi Graf.

However, the Canarian player has lot of confidence for the difficult match and we hope that our best sports ambassador can play her best game and can win. The match could be broadcasted live on Eurosport.
