Sakui and Athenath

Sakui bit her lip and shuffled from foot to foot. We've been here forever. Would the dratted dragons just make an appearence already? She couldn't help drawing the next unpolite association. They're worse than Jenit trying to get ready on openning night! He's never on time. An angry glance from Dimenth told Sakui that if she wanted to complain she could darn well leave and not impress. The actress nodded once, getting the unspoken message clearly, and returned to staring at the eggs. After working on stage for so many years, you got good at hearing unspoken messages. She smirked, her mind wandering again. Like when your co-star get really drunk, misses his cue and needs you to desperately cover for him before you're booed off the stage... A loud crack drew her attention back to the eggs.

She bit her lip again. Great Sakui, brilliant. Start day-dreaming and miss the hatchling. She sighed. Even if I don't impress at least I'll get to get off of these hot sands!

As the humming from the dragons grew louder, Sakui put her hands over her ears, ignoring another angry glance from the proud Dimenth, mother of the clutch. She doesn't want me impressing. Sakui decided. She's going to tell her children not to look at me because she doesn't like me. Sakui found herself getting angry at the green, even though she hadn't done anything. That's so like a proddy green! I've never been in a Weyr before! How am I supposed to know what's polite behaviour?! And then she goes and drags us all out here and makes us wait for candlemarks... Sakui was about to storm off the sands, fully fed up with Dimenth and all other dragons when a small green nose poked her arm.

My mother told me to come here. She said to hurry because you were getting impatient. Athenath sat down and warbled. Do you really not like greens?

Sakui simply stared down at the hatchling for a few minutes, confused. She swore she could hear Dimenth laughing. Athenath warbled again and threatened to nip at Sakui. If you really want me, feed me!

Sakui shook her head and smiled. "Sorry Athenath. I just can't believe I actually impressed!" She rubbed the green's head and switched to speaking in her mind. And of course I want you! I love you! And I don't hate greens! I never hated greens! I just hate waiting...

Athenath bugled and nudged Sakui again. My mother says I'll teach you patience. Let's eat! The green began skipping off towards the food with Sakui close behind.
