R'nan and Amorth

R'nan kicked at the ground as he walked to his weyr. His normally cheerful expression was missing. He didn't look up when people greeted him, he didn't even acknowledge them. He entered the Weyrbowl and sighed. The first thing he saw was Thirza and Bellezath. The gold was sunning herself on a ledge. Thirza was checking over her queen's hide for problems. R'nan sighed again as he stopped to watch her. She'd changed so much from the girl he'd known growing up. Amorth approached his rider and gently nudged him with his head.

She's really something isn't she?

R'nan smiled quietly. "Yeah. I mean I never used to think of her like that, and now that we're not together anymore, I mean living together anymore it's just.....just.....different."

R'nan sighed and leaned against his dragon. "I guess I don't know.

Amorth smiled. I was talking about Bellezath.

R'nan glared at his dragon. "Thanks. Just let me make a fool out of myself."

The dragon smiled. Maybe you should talk to her. Maybe she feels the same way.

R'nan sighed and continued on to his weyr, Amorth in tow. "She doesn't. I least I don't think she does. I mean she's a Jr. Weyrwoman now. She has other things on her mind." He looked back over his shoulder to the ledge where Bellezath was sunning. Thirza was talking to a bronze rider. Mik'len? R'nan thought. He sighed. She was laughing and joking with him. I remember when she wouldn't talk to anyone without me. She was so shy. What happened?

Amorth smiled as they entered the weyr. She doesn't need you to baby-sit her anymore, she has Bellezath. But she's still your friend, rider-mine. You're the one who gave her the confidence to try impression. You're the reason she met Bellezath. Amorth realized that his words didn't effect R'nan very much. The brown-rider sat down on the edge of the dragon couch. He was lost in his thoughts. Well, Amorth thought, I'll just have to say something to grab his attention. The brown flopped down on his dragon couch. By the way, she has every right to talk with Mik'len. Bellezath's flying and Mik'len's bronze, Vekunth, is thinking about chasing her.

R'nan nearly fell off the couch. "What?!?!?!?" He jumped to his feet and started pacing. "Bellezath's flying?!?!? When did this happen?"

Amorth sighed. Two days ago. You weren't paying that much attention to anything were you?

R'nan ignored his dragon's answer. "Ane Vekunth's chasing? Mik'len's dragon? Mik'len shouldn't even be aloud to touch Thirza. He's a thief! He's wrong for her! He's...."

A bronze-rider. Which gives him every right to try for Bellezath.

"But..."

If he's not the one for Thirza who is?

"Well..."

J'kar, M'slin, T'nir... Amorth listed other bronze riders at Adanuk.

"Me." R'nan stated. He froze when he realized what he said. He then blushed.

Amorth smiled. So you'll let me chase Bellezath?

"What?" R'nan snapped back into reality.

Amorth stood up and stretched. Just nod and say yes, R'nan.

R'nan smiled as he watched Amorth leave. The brown was already looking for somewhere to sign up. "Yes, R'nan." He mummbled to himself.

He followed Amorth, the brown had located Weyrwoman Magika, out into the weyrbowl. Thirza and Bellezath were still on the ledge, minus Mik'len. He smiled at her and waved. She waved back. Amorth?

Hmmmmm? The dragon was already talking with Hyth, Magika's dragon.

R'nan grinned, ear to ear. Think you can catch her?

Amorth laughed. I grew up beside her, learned to walk beside her, learned to fly beside her, nobody knows her better than I do.

R'nan approached Magika, grinning. Does that mean yes?

Amorth reared, spreding his wings. Although smaller than a bronze, he was large for a brown. His wing-span was immpressive and he enjoyed showing it off. He trumpetted to Bellezath who returned his call. He shook himself off and snorted to any bronze, brown, or blue that got to close. She's mine.
