Ehzeia and Letaemyth
Ehzeia finally had to admit to herself that she was a little bit nervous. Promise had disappeared, leaving her master to her fate. The adventerous youth couldn't help feeling slightly betrayed as she faced this, her greatest challenge, alone. The eggs on the Black Sands were rocking.
Keep breathing She warned herself as she watched the first dragon, a beautiful sunset-red, approach his chosen bond. The dragons know what they're doing. I just have to stand here. She grinned to herself. It's not like I'll fall hundreds of feet if I screw up.
She finally banished her fear, as all good adventerors should, and took time to admire the beautiful creatures that were leaving their eggs. She thought they had to be the most graceful, amazing creatures in the world...until one royal purple brat had the audacity to snort at her. As the prissy dragonet left with her chosen bond, Ehzeia couldn't help feeling offended and slightly hurt. Is that all the dragons think of me?
That thought plagued her mind as a beautiful midnight-forest dragon made her way into the world. The hatchling fanned her wings, showing off her beautiful physique, and made no move to stand. Ehzeia, my sister has no taste. Come, cross this dreary earth, and I shall take you higher than you've ever gone before!
Ehzeia couldn't help grinning, all memory of the purple's scorn vanished in the miracle of impression. But just because she was amazingly relieved and grateful that this beauty had chosen her, didn't mean that she wasn't still her normal, over-confident self. "Not until we've been properly introduced."
I'm Letaemyth! The dragonet leapt at her bond. Now come here! Laughing at her lifemate's already-evident temper, Ehzeia went.
* * * Get that creature away from me Zeia or so help me I'll eat it!!! Letaemyth's temper had definately not cooled with time.
Ehzeia smiled and grabbed her gold-white from the air. "Behave Promise."
The flit chirped and flew the the midnight-forest dragon, purposefully landing on her nose. Letaemyth, true to her promise, snapped at the tiny creature, who promptly betweened himself to Ehzeia's shoulder.
The rider laughed. "Your in a proddy mood today Myth. Not planning on flying are you?"
The dragon's eyes whirled a mirage of colours. Not likely. But that blasted Hyth and her rider are coming to see us today.
"Usually we refer to them as the Weyrwoman and Sr. Queen." Ehzeia stroked her lifemate's eyeridges, trying to calm her down. Whatever knowledge Magika was about to impart obviously upset her.
Letaemyth's eyes whirled blue and a draconic smirk could be found on her face. No, normally you refer to them as the Weyrwoman and Sr. Queen. That big gold brute will always be Hyth to me.
Promise decided that continuing to bug the large dark green was a good idea and began nudging the dragon's neck with her head.
Ehzeia quickly removed the firelizards, physically placing her on her shoulder and winding the creature's tail around her neck. "Do you think it's about Tessia?" The Wingthird had commented several times on Ehzeia and Letaemyth's 'creative' wing formations. The two couldn't help it if they were a little more adventerous than most and tended to put themselves in danger. Tessia had said, quite loudly and forcefully, that breaking formation put everyone in danger.
I refuse to 'smarten up and fly straight'. The midnight forest quoted the Wingthird. She doesn't know how to fight Thread at all!!
"That's why Wingthird Tessia had finally kicked you two out of the wing." Weyrwoman Magika entered the weyr, Hyth obviously had told her rider what Letaemyth was saying.
"She what?!?" Ehzeia knew that they hadn't exactly been getting along, but wasn't kicking them out kind of drastic?
"Yep." Magika smiled, ignoring the dirty look she was getting from Letaemyth. "That's why I've come with a new proposal."
Ehzeia was still slightly shocked that she'd been removed from her wing. She sat down on the dragon bed and put one hand on Letaemyth to steady herself.
Don't worry. You'll like her idea. Letaemyth nudged her rider with her head.
Then why were you so upset earlier? Ehzeia leaned against the comforting presence of her lifemate.
Because I don't think I like the idea. The dragon's eyes got a slightly red tinge to them.
Then it's not a solution is it? Ehzeia closed her eyes and felt Letaemyth breathing. I won't do anything you don't want to do Myth.
The midnight-forest's tail began to whip back and forth like an annoyed cat's. Oh, we'll do it. We have no other choice. Unless you want to apologize to Tessia.
The rider was at least as stubborn as her dragon. I see your point. Don't worry. We'll get through this together. "Alright Weyrwoman. I guess the only thing I can do is accept my new placement."
Magika grinned. "Great. Takisha'll be pleased, she thought you had great potential for this job since you got here. You'll be moving to the beside Aliana and Xynoth, so start packing." The Weyrwoman started to leave.
"Wait a minute!" Ehzeia jumped to her feet. "What position did I just accept?"
Magika grinned. "Searchrider."
* * *<\center> Admit it Myth. You kind of like this. Ehzeia grinned as Letaemyth followed Xynoth in slow circles down to the Hold.
Spending all my time looking at pathetic youths who think that a winning smile is all they need to impress? Hardly. The dragoness, despite her comment, began to search as soon as she landed. Letaemyth was a natural, only having been at the job a few months and already three of the people she'd searched had impressed. High impressions too. The midnight-forest knew that you had to start looking at the people before they regained their composure. You could tell a lot by that first look of awe as they saw the rather large Searchdragon.
Ehzeia remained mounted as Aliana launched into the speel about ages and what weyr they were from and everything. One day Ehzeia would search by herself and have to learn the manditory speach, but for now she left it in the capable hands of Aliana. You don't even get a little excited?
Letaemyth mentally sighed. Some of us are working. Girl, third row, red hair, green eyes.
I see her. Run it past Xynoth. Ehzeia watched the girl react as she saw Ehzeia's gaze fall on her.
Why do I have to run it by that pathetic green? I'm good at what I do!! Better than her! Letaemyth's famous temper flared and a few of the nearest youths stepped back as her eyes whirled dark red.
If you hate the job so much why do you care about being best? Ehzeia was trying to get Letaemyth admit that this wasn't worse than Threadfall.
If I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it to the best of my abilities, which far surpass Xynoth's!! Letaemyth's tail began to flick back and forth. The cat-like action was a joke around the weyr, but it startled the people waiting to be searched and made them all take a step back again.
Aliana looked over at her and sighed. "Can't you keep her under control?"
"She says to take a look at the red-head girl in the third row." Ehzeia ignored the comment.
"Xynoth noticed her, but she said no." That was the end as far as Aliana was concerned.
That overgrown wherry just knew that I had my eye on her and purposefully rejected her!! Letaemyth reared, bespeaking the shaken girl. You're coming with me. You're searched.
"Ehzeia!!" Aliana knew what had happened. "What did I just say?"
"Ehzeia?" The new searchrider smiled. "C'mon. Letaemyth hasn't been wrong yet. Give her the benefit of the doubt."
Aliana sighed. "Fine, this time and only this time. If this ever happens again..."
"I know. I know. Certain expulsion. We'll behave."
We most certainly will not. I'll do whatever I please. Letaemyth was finally cooling down.
Ehzeia laughed. I know love, I know. Just humour her. The searchrider went to talk to the astonished red-head.
As she helped the new candidate mount the beatiful midnight-forest, Letaemyth finally confessed. Maybe I do like the Search, a bit.
Really Myth? Ehzeia made sure the girl was strapped on tight. You're not just humouring me?
Have I ever humoured you? The dragoness shook herself off, startling their new passanger. The midnight-forest's eyes gleamed. Truth is, I like showing Xynoth up.
Ehzeia smiled. I couldn't tell. You also seem to enjoy scaring the would-be candidates.
If they're scared of me, they'll most definately be scared of a proddy clutch-mother. I'm preparing them. Letaemyth didn't bother waiting for Xynoth, she simple leapt into the air. Her wings beat down hard, bringing her higher and higher. The dragoness prepared to between. Out of the corner of her eye, Ehzeia could see Aliana on the ground, fuming at them.
The Searchrider laughed as the candidate practically squeezed her in two. You know why I love the search Letaemyth?
You're crazy?
You really make this an adventure.
The dragon smiled as she received the well-known co-ordinates from her rider. Visions of Adanuk Weyr, Magika, Hyth and Promise filled her mind. That's what I promised you Ehzeia. That's why I'm here. They disappeared between, leaving Aliana, and most of their common sense, behind.
