Angel's Writing

Ghouls and Ghosties

Short Story
The house was quiet and dark as Tealk and Amber walked into the foyer. Tealk pulled a torch out of his knapsack and switched it on. As he shined it around the large entry room they saw large, pink replicas of Michelangelo’s "David" flanking the large, red carpeted staircase. The room was paneled in mahogany, the floors were tiled in Italian marble and covering it all was dusty, white cobwebs.

"It's beautiful, Tealk. The house has to be over a hundred years old, but why do you think the owners up and abandoned it seventy-five years ago?" Amber asked looking at her brother. Her brother was a tall, broad shouldered, handsome man of twenty-six.

"I don't know, Amber, but maybe it has to do with the villagers' tale? You know the one we heard in the tavern, about the place being haunted. What do ya think? You think we got ourselves some real spooks or what?"

"Right now I don't care. All I care about is finding a bed that still had sheets on it." Amber started toward the stairs and ran her hand through the heavy curtain of cobwebs stretching between the two statues. "This place needs a serious scrub down. I can't believe that dad talked us into coming to check this place out. If he wasn't paying us I'd be gone in a second."

"What are you scared Amber? You afraid the ghouls, ghosties, and goblins are gonna get ya?" He made a howling ghost noise as he walked up the stairs behind her.

"Knock it off you moron. I'm not the one who was afraid of the dark until I was seventeen remember? Besides what makes you think that this place is really haunted? All we have to go on the hauntings’ is village superstitions."

"I don't know, maybe there is some truth to what they told us about the earlier family being murdered by an escaped lunatic from the asylum fifty miles away."

"Why the hell would and escapee travel fifty miles to murder a family that they had never met?" Amber asked turning around to look at her brother skeptically.

Tealk shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe that's why they call it the 'Loony Bin' Amber, because the inhabitants are all crazy! Now enough of this lets find a couple of rooms and get some sleep."

Its really bad at the moment, I know.
But I just wanted to have some of my actual writings on the site.
