My Angel

Like everyone who lives and those who are on the brink of death,
I am no stranger to pain.
I was born into this world,
A world of endless darkness and echoing screams of agony,
With a burst of pain.
A pain so great that the greedy claws of the reaper,
Attempted to reach up from the depths and cease my existence
As it barely blossomed.
But God allowed the miracle to unfold.
He would not permit the breath of life to be denied.
Thus my battle began.
Throughout my innocent youth
Victory was easily mine.
Not a shadow of death or darkness could be seen
Pain and fear were scarcely felt.
For I held the power of dreams.
The fantasies of a child,
Who believes in only the truth of happiness and laughter.
I knew my other half would come
And we would easily defeat all evilness that crossed our path.
Conquering all with the magic our love.
All I had to do was pray
Survive the lonely nights
And wait for him to appear.
As the years went by
The harshness of this dark world,
The deceiving reality of life,
Took its toll upon my heart.
My battle became fierce
I was not only fighting for the breath of existence,
But also the purpose of my ravished soul.
The pain was strong and loneliness had overcome.
The magic of my dreams was stolen
A fading promise
Drowned out by my tortured tears.
I became a broken prisoner of the emptiness and the pain
I was tangled inside evil lies of cruelty
I thought I was alone and weak
My flame of hope extinguished
I was alone and dying
I no longer believed in truth.
Then, on the eve I had thought everything to be lost,
Just when I had decided to offer myself to the enemy
That I had fought off for so long,
You offered yourself to me,
And when I pushed you away
You placed your fate within my hands.
God had sent my rescuer.
You, my angel,
Wrapped your wings around me
Protecting me from the demons of this world,
And giving me an endless ocean of unconditional love.
It took me a moment to shake off the deceit
Which had infested itself inside my heart.
You stood by me,
Ready and willing to give me strength and love
Whenever I called to you.
My Angel,
Come to me now and never let go.
A dream has returned to me,
Like a faded memory,
Tis you I've been waiting for.
The magic is within your smile
Our souls are one
Tears of emptiness are no more.
Inside your soft feathers of ecstasy,
Of our own private universe,
