Love's Sacrifice
Alas my love, I say goodbye
Before the tears fall from my eye
I place the poison between my lips.
For when I found you, you were sleeping
I cried out, lament and weeping.
Upon your angelic face I saw
Death's eternal shadow start to gnaw
Away your beauty.
I tried in vain
To kiss away the pain.
And bring you back to me
But it was never meant to be.
I am not God.
And so my love, 'tis with a heavy heart
That I, from this cruel world depart.
I welcome death
To steal my breath.
Sealing my lips, the doors to life
Killing the everlasting strife.
Then, once again
I will be with thee, my love
And we shall reign happily, from above.
