Led Zeppelin is considered to be one of the influential, successful, and popular British bands in the history of Rock and Roll. The band was formed in 1968 form the ashes of Jimmy Page's former band The Yardbirds. When Jimmy was forming the band the Who's drummer and Page's former band mate commented that the band would sink like a lead balloon, hence Led Zeppelins original name. Led Zeppelin's genre is usually described as hard rock or heavy metal, when in fact they brought many other styles into their music including blues, rockability, soul, funk, Celtic, Indian, Arab, folk, and even a little Latin. The band played together for over two decades and the death of John Bonham, Led Zeppelin disbanded. Though they are no longer releasing new albums Led Zeppelins music is still popular.
