John J. and Sarah Holden Liles from Maury Co Tn circa 1870
Bill Liles Comments: My Liles family (that I can verify) began with Samuel Liles b1779 (wife Betsy ----)of Chester Co. SC. He and his brother Thomas came to Maury Co. Tn about 1807. Samuel's son William L. Liles was born in SC between 1800 and 1807. He married Rebecca Curry of the James Curry II family. They had children Willis M. , Lucius Polk, Elizabeth, William M. and my GG Grandfather John J. Liles who would marry Sarah Holden. There was much intermarriage in Maury Co Tn of Liles, Garner, Curry, Cathey and Holdens. After their service in the Confederate Army and Calvary, many of this extended family came to Texas in 1870 with my GG Grandfather and settled in Fannin, Hunt and Grayson Cos. |
