After the game Denise drove them back to Aj’s house. After saying goodnight to the three, Denise left.

“Um, Howie?” Melody asked, as he was about to leave as well.

“Yeah Melody?”

“I would really like it if you were there tomorrow too. Nick, and Brian, and Kevin also, if they wouldn’t mind.” Melody had thought about it, and decided it would be best if they all found out too. Aj would need all the support he could get in the next few days and they couldn’t help him if they didn’t know what was going on.

“Anything for you Mel, I’ll ask the other guys tonight, I’ll give ‘em a call when I get home,” he said, as he slowly walked down the driveway to his car. He waved goodbye as he pulled onto the street and sped off.

“Come on, let’s get you to bed,” Aj started, “you can borrow some of my cloths and you can have my bed. I’ll sleep down on the couch.”

“No, I couldn’t do that,” Melody protested.

“Yes, you can. I won’t have you sleeping in the uncomfortable chair again.”

“I wouldn’t feel right just taking over your room and kicking you out of it like that.”

“Fine, how about we’ll both sleep in my room. That way you won’t kick me out, and you will have a nice place to sleep. You can take the bed and I’ll sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor. And don’t even tell me no, because I won’t accept that for an answer.”

“Ok, fine.”

Melody followed Aj up to his room. It was a good-sized room with white walls and a red carpet. The bed had leopard print sheets and pillows. There was a small, leather zebra print chair in the corner closet to the bed. Gold, platinum, and diamond records lined the walls. In the corner opposite of the chair was a trophy case. Melody walked over to examine it. It held many awards that Aj and The Backstreet Boys had won over the years.

“Impressive,” Melody stated, looking at the award Aj had won for best facial hair and best hair.

“Think so?” Aj asked, walking up behind her.

“Definitely, I especially like the one for best facial hair,” she laughed. Aj gave her a crooked smile before reaching into his closet witch was right next to the case. He pulled out a T-shirt and pair of sweet pants.

“Think these will work?” he asked. Melody nodded, and took them from him. “The bathroom is across the hall. Melody walked to the bathroom. Shutting the door to the bathroom, she stared at herself in the mirror. She hated what she saw. She had becomes paler and there was an apparent weight loss.

“Like I have weight to spare,” Melody muttered under her breath as she changed. She sat down on the edge of the white marble bathtub to think for a little bit.

She only had three more days left, and then it was all over. Melody was terribly depressed because ever second she spent with Aj, the harder it was for her to face the fact she would never have a full life to live and be with Aj. She knew she had already fallen deeply in love with him. How could she not? If she ever had one wish she would want more than anything to live, even if it were only one more week. Melody had to deal with the fact that one week just isn’t enough. Melody composed herself the best she could before going back across the hall.

Aj was spread out on the floor next to the bed. The covers on the bed had been pulled down, ready for Melody to get in. Melody crossed the room slowly and hesitantly climbed into bed. She still didn’t feel right taking his bed from him. She leaned over the side, once she had got in, so she could see Aj.

“Hey babe, you took kind of long, are you alright?” He asked.

“Yeah,” she lied.

“Are you sure your up to talking to everyone tomorrow?”

“As long as you are there to help me through it.”

“You know I will be. I would walk around the world for you if you asked,” he told her, reaching up to hold her hand. “You are my angel, and that will never change.”

“Aj,” she said quietly, “when I’m up in heaven, I promise to watch over you.”

Aj didn’t say anything for a while. He lay there, just thinking, a small, sad smile formed over his lips.

“See, you really are my angel,” he finally managed to whisper. Melody got out of bed and stretched out next to Aj.

“The bed wasn’t all that great anyway,” she said. Aj kissed her on the cheek gently. They soon both feel asleep, despite the hardness of the floor.
