Aj stumbled around his dressing room. It was Monday night and the second show of their tour. Aj had somehow made it through the show the night before, except for during Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely. He couldn't sing; Brian had to sing his part for him. The fans had noticed the differences in him and wondered what was going on. He was going to tell them during this next show.
Howie and Nick were in the main backstage area, waiting for the other guys.
“Do you think Aj is ready to announce Melody’s death?” Howie asked nick.
“I don’t know man, he didn’t seem to good last night, I’m not sure,” Howie answered honestly.
“He won’t be making an announcement,” a female voice said from behind them. They turned to look into the face of Melody. “Hi guys.”
Howie wrapped her in a big hug, soon followed by Nick.
“I thought…” Howie started, but he couldn’t finish. He felt like he was staring at a ghost.
“Something happened, let’s just say I changed my own destiny,” she smiled.
“I’m glad, and you could look any better,” Nick said.
“Does Aj know yet?” Howie asked. Melody shook her head no. Brian and Kevin just came out of sound check when they saw Melody.
“Is that?” Brian murmured, he couldn’t finish, he knew what he saw, but he couldn’t believe it.
“Does Aj…” Kevin started only to be stopped by Nick, who held his hand up to quite him.
“Come with me,” Nick said, taking Melody’s hand. He led her through a few hallways down to the back part of the dressing rooms.
“In there,” Nick whispered. Melody nodded and thanked Nick before he walked off down the hallways again. Melody slowly pushed the door open. She watched Aj sitting on the couch. He was dressed in black leather pants, a black tank top, and a leopard print cowboy hat. Melody watched him for a while, her heart filling more every second she looked at him. She finally gained the courage to speak.
“You always did have a thing for those hats didn’t you?” She said. Aj looked up at her in shock.
“Melody?” he stammered.
“The one and only, now come give me a hug.” Aj ran to her and picked her up in his arms.
“Oh my gosh Mel, I can’t believe it, how in the world are you here, and well?”
“You are the reason Aj.”
“What?” Aj put Melody down, his arms still tightly around her waste, and looked her in the eyes.
“I was meant to be with you, and since I found you there was no way I was going to leave this earth when you were still on it. I love you Aj, and that love has saved my life.”
“I love you too, and that will never change,” Aj said, bringing his lips to hers.
One Month Later
Melody smiled as she flipped through her magazine. It was one of the many that contained the story of her and Aj. About how they met, knowing that she had only a few days to live, and then love saving her. It had become the most popular celebrity story Rolling Stone had ever had. Rolling Stone usually thrives on stories that people look bad, but they couldn’t pass up her story. Melody sat down the magazine and made her way out into the concert arena, to her reserved seat in the front row.
They boys were back in the US, on the second leg on their tour. Tonight’s show was in Washington DC, at the MCI Center, a sold out crowd. Rumor had it, that even the President and his daughter were attending the show.
The lights went out and the show had started. Melody chatted with the fans sitting around her; they all recognized her from the pictures in the magazines. They all asked her about herself, about Aj, about what it felt like to be that close to death.
Melody was lost in her conversations with the fans when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to see Aj standing by her seat.
“Come with me angel,” he said, taking her hand and leading her to the stage.
The lights all went out except for one spotlight on Aj and Melody.
“I’m sure as many of you know, this is my girlfriend Melody. I brought her onstage tonight because since all of you know the story between us, I thought you all would like to witness the next chapter of the story,” Aj said to the crowd. “Now, I don’t ask you to do this very often, but if you could, I would like you to be silent for a minute.” The crown immediately became quiet.
Aj got down on one knee in front of Melody, and pulled a ring out of his back pocket.
“Melody, baby, will you marry me?” Aj asked, followed by a few aw’s and how cut’s from the audience.
“Of course I will,” Melody said, he slid the ring onto her finger. The crowd erupted into happy shouts and cheering.
6 weeks later
“Melody, do you take this man, to be your husband, for better or worse, ‘til death do you part?” The priest asked.
“I do,” Melody replied.
“Alexander, do you take this woman, to be your wife, for better or worse, ‘til death do you part?”
“I do,” Aj said.
“I now pronounce you man and wife, you may now kiss the bride.”
