"So do you guys know anything about this group that is supposed to be performing?" Vallery asked. Suzy and Melody glanced at each other, but said nothing. A younger girl, about 14, sitting next to Melody leaned over to talk to Vallery.
"You don't know who is performing? Oh my gosh, I can't believe this! It's The Backstreet Boys, they are the best in the world, and so much better than that other boy band, Nsync or whatever," the girl said all in one breath, motioning wildly with her hands.
"You see, my boyfriend gave me this ticket and told me to be here. I had no idea who was performing or anything, and I'm sorry, but I've never heard of The Backstreet Boys before." Vallery explained.
"Well, you've got a lot to look forward to, these guys are great. This night couldn't be any better for me, and wait, yes it could…"
"Why could it be better?" Melody asked, curious.
"I kinda talked to these two girls. Apparently, Aj brought a girl here tonight. They said that she was the typical girl you would see someone famous dating. You know, pretty, but stuck up, and think they are better than everyone else is. They said she seemed kinda sluttish too. I can guarantee that al she sees in his is his money. Of course he would never date a normal girl, you know, someone like you or me. Two pretty, normal, average girls," she rambled. Melody bit her lip not to laugh. Wow, things travel fast around here, she thought. She made she not to look at Suzy, because she would lose it.
"I know, for real, I'm am totally an Aj girl. By the way, I'm Melody, that's Suzy and Vallery," Melody pointed out the other girls. The fact that the name Aj came up flew over Vallery's head, she still had no clue why she was there.
"Nice to meet you all, my name is Tori," she said, shaking their hands. All of the sudden the lights went out, Star Wars music blasted from the stereos. An explosion caused the four girls to turn around them. A huge black box was directly behind them. Their eyes wide they watched the five guys fly over their heads to the stage.
"Holy crap, is that who I think it is?" Vallery said stunned. She gazed up at the stage, her mouth opened in surprise. Nick watched her expression from the stage; he winked at her before moving into position.
"Surprise," Melody whispered to her. They all stood up and hung on the fence separating them from the stage with the other fans. The show began, as they immediately went into Larger Than Life. The three girls didn't know any of the lyrics, so they just danced to the music instead of singing like the people around them.
Aj came back to their side of the stage. He smiled when he noticed Melody down in front; he waved to her quickly before he had to move again.
"Not-uh, dude, Aj just waved at you! You are so lucky!" Tori exclaimed. Melody smiled smugly, deciding whether or not she was going to tell the girl who she was.
The concert was wonderful, better than Melody expected. The boys came out on stage in pink suits, Melody chuckled to herself. She hated pink, but some how they had pulled it off. Melody heard familiar notes, then she realized it was the song she heard on the radio, Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely. Melody was even happier when she noticed AJ was facing her side of the stage.
The song played, and Melody actually knew the words. Vallery and Suzy stared at her in amazement.
"I heard it on the radio a few times, and I kind of, you know, bought the CD when I found out. It's a long story, I'll tell you guys later," she said quickly before she resumed singing. Aj watched her from the stage, her lips moving with the words, he didn't think she knew any of their songs.
"Aj is looking at you, yet again," Tori muttered, now becoming annoyed that her favorite BSB was paying so much attention to Melody, and hadn't even noticed her.
"Hey, check this Tori," Melody said, taking her arm. She motioned to Aj to look at her, then pointed to Tori. She mouthed "Blow her a kiss." Aj nodded, then turned towards Tori, bowed, then blew her a kiss. Melody felt Tori grip her arm tighter.
"How did you get him to do that, and how come he is always smiling and waving at you?" Tori stuttered. Melody turned to her and smiled.
"He better pay attention to me, I am his girlfriend after all," she said. Tori's face turned pale.
"Oh boy, wow, I am so sorry about earlier. I had no idea it was you, and, I mean you are so nice, not like those girls said. Jeez, do they know them too?"
"Nick's girlfriend," Vallery said, raising her hand.
"Went out with Howie a few times," Suzy said, also raising her hand. Tori looked as if she was about to die.
"How would you like to meet them after the show, I'm sure they wouldn't mind," Melody said, knowing the answer. Tori shook her head rapidly; she couldn't manage to open her mouth to say anything.
A while later the concert was over. Frank, the security guard walked over to bring the girls backstage, they made sure they had Tori with them. Nick was the first to come over to them; he wrapped Vallery in his arms.
"I thought this would be the best way to tell you," Nick said, looking in her eyes to make sure everything was okay.
"It was great, I'm glad that you waited to tell me, I understand completely why you didn't tell me right away. I know what you are thinking. I'm not upset, I'm fine. Even if the thought of thousands of girls screaming at you is a little disturbing,"
"Hey babe," a voice said in Melody's ear.
"Is that you Kevin?" Melody joked.
"Hey, that's not funny!" Aj said, pretending to be hurt, but immediately became serious. "Are you doing alright?"
"Yeah, I'm just a little worn out," she replied.
"I know how to fix that. Ice cream! You all want some ice cream?" he shouted as the other three members of BSB approached. Melody tapped him on the shoulder and pointed to Tori.
"This is Tori, she is a big fan. I didn't think you guys would mind if I brought her back here," Melody informed them.
"Oh yes, the lovely lady that I blew the kiss to. Nice to meet you Tori," he said, giving her a hug. The other four boys followed. They took pictures and signed autographs for her. After it was all done she pulled Melody aside before she left.
"I just want to say sorry again for earlier, and thank you SO much for doing this for me. You are one of the nicest people I have ever met. If anybody ever says anything bad about you, I will stick up for you. I hope you and Aj stay together for a long time," Tori told her. Melody felt a pang in her heart. She only had four days left with AJ, or anyone for that matter. Yeah, sure, a long time, Melody thought sadly.
"Ready for ice cream?" Aj said, walking up behind her and sliding his arm around her waste. She nodded and let him lead her towards their tour bus.
