Many a sleepless night have I found myself in a cold forest amidst the pouring rain. As I sit shivering, I can't help but wonder why I didn't choose the path of least resistance. Why didn't I opt to spend my days in a tavern handing out spirits and relaxing in front of a nice warm fire?
The answer is different for everyone, but it is in asking this question that we can hope to someday reach some sort of enlightenment or at very least, comfort. Some of the enslaved have banded together in an effort to help each other find the solution to this quandary that has plagued us all our lives. Maybe together we can find the path to break our bonds, and eventually achieve our freedom.
Ludus Venalis consists of all races and classes from throughout Norrath. The founding members were basically good folk and they believed that helping others was the key to personal and spiritual growth. Their good intentions and well wishing live on among the current members of the clan. The original charter, known as The Three Dictates, has been re-translated over the ages and it still rings as true today as it did in ages past. All members of Ludus Venalis must follow The Three Dictates or they will not be welcome in the guild.
The Three Dictates
1. If help is called for, you will not turn a blind eye; do remember that your death will not enable you to continue the good journey, so be wise. Our brethren are first in the order of things; if it comes down to your brother or a stranger, your brother must live on.
2. Tools of battle are to be shared among Ludus Venalis; when a better bit of equipment is procured, your lesser piece is to be passed on to a less fortunate brother before being sold. Guild gifts are only to be taken if your will use them as your main item. In the event the item is no longer in use, it will be returned to the Guild.
3. Membership can only be acheived through the relationship of a Ludus Member in Real Life. Many good friends are met online, but they will remain friends of the Guild and are not eligible to join.
Journey on and may each battle bring you a step closer to freedom.
