| The firstborn child of Luke and Laura Spencer, Lucky has always been a reflection of both his parents. He inherited his mother's practicality and his father's sense of adventure. Being so much like his parents has been the source of much friction between all of them. Lucky alternately admires and abhors his father, though his relationship with Laura is usually stable. Things really came to a head when Lucky found out he had a half-brother, Nikolas Cassadine. Lucky and Nikolas had been taught to hate each other as part of the ongoing feud between the Spencers and the Cassadines. What both young men soon learned, however, was that they didn't hate each other at all. Tired of the endless battles between their families, Lucky and Nikolas agreed to distance themselves from the never-ending feud. Lucky became a pillar of support for Liz after she was raped on Valentine's Day in 1998. At this same time, Lucky learned that Luke had raped Laura some twenty years before. Lucky became disgusted by Luke and did not want to have anything to do with him. After Lucky told Liz what his father had done to his mother, the bond between them became stronger. Lucky left home and stayed at Liz's house before getting a place of his own. Lucky didn't want anything to do with either Luke or Laura and they remained estranged for some time. Eventually, Luke got through to Lucky and he reconciled with his parents. Lucky and Liz grew more and more in love and they even planned to move to New York City together while Liz attended art school there. Although Liz and Lucky weren't lovers, they did pledge their love to another in an abandoned church on Valentine's Day. Lucky's greatest ordeal happened in 1999 when everyone presumed that he had been killed in a fire. As it turned out, Lucky hadn't died, but had been kidnapped by Helena Cassadine and Cesar Faison. For the next year, Lucky was held in a series of elaborate bunkers where he became very adept at the game of chess. When Luke realized that Lucky was alive, he set out on a search for his son. At this same time, Helena took Lucky to the Triple L diner and set him free. Luke and Laura found Lucky at the Triple L, but were shocked by his attitude and behavior. Lucky wanted nothing to do with his parents and blamed them for his ordeal. Lucky eventually made his way back to Port Charles and his friends were equally puzzled by his new outlook on things. Liz was especially taken aback by Lucky as he seemed to be trying to push her away. In fact, Lucky even suggested that Liz should become involved with Nikolas. Lucky clearly wasn't himself anymore and one person seemed responsible -- Helena Cassadine. As it turned out, Helena had brainwashed Lucky and was determined to make him a pawn in her latest evil scheme. Liz surprised Lucky at the boxcar and they shared a kiss, but Lucky suddenly pulled away and claimed that everything they shared in the past was gone. Not wanting to give up, Liz and Emily decided to recreate the dinner they had at the diner with Nikolas and Lucky on the night of the fire. The foursome gathered at Kelly's and Lucky seemed like his old self for a short while. Something then snapped in Lucky and he pushed Liz away and left. Lucky, Liz and Nikolas teamed up over the summer to help Emily with her blackmailing ordeal and subsequent kidnapping. Lucky and Liz were able to connect on several occasions, but he always ended up pushing her away again. By the end of August, Lucky realized there was something wrong with his mind. Soon thereafter, Liz witnessed Helena using mind control on Lucky. Liz then used Helena's code phrase on Lucky, who realized he had been brainwashed. Lucky then told Liz that he loved her. Lucky started treatment with Kevin Collins in an effort to erase the hold Helena had over him. Lucky and Liz took a trip to New York City and almost made love for the first time, but decided the time wasn't right. Later in December the two went away for a romantic evening and finally made love for the first time. The two were inseperable there after. Laura asked Liz to be her Face of Deception model and Liz later gave in but Carly had come up with her own model--Gia Campbell. The two battled it out for the job and in the process everyone learned Lucky was a natural photographer. In the meantime Jason Morgan came back to town and asked Liz if he could live in her studio and for her to keep it a secret. Liz reluctantly agreed. She started lying to Lucky more and more because she was hiding Jason. After an explosion in Sonny's warehouse, when Jason exposed he was back in town, Liz finally confessed that she knew Jason was back in town (but still didn't say she was hiding him). Lucky was so upset that she had kept a secret and asked her not to see Jason anymore because he was no good for their relationship. Liz agreed not to see Jason but went behind Lucky's back and saw him anyway. One night on the docks Lucky, while under Helena's control, pulled a knife on Jason threatening to kill him but instead Jason beat up Lucky as Liz watched and came to Lucky's rescue. She was furious with Jason and said that it was a mistake that they were ever friends because he hurts people and that it is wrong and he is exactly what Nik and Lucky say about him. Later Liz confesses to Lucky she did infact have feelings for Jason and Lucky stormed off, completely crushed and heartbroken. Liz then went to Jason and explained the samething to him but also said that her place was with Lucky and he was the man she wanted to be with! After that Jason left town (wahoo!) Liz found Lucky and explained that nothing else mattered but them and she loved him and no one else. She also explain that she didn't need anyone else. Soon Lucky started showing signs of the programing again. Nik and Luke were the first to notice and soon help Laura realize the brainwashing was back. After a lot of convincing Laura and Nik helped Liz realize that Helena had Lucky's mind in her control again. Liz vowed to help save him this time. She convinced Lucky that indeed there was a problem and they would fix it together with the help of Luke Laura Nik and Kevin Collins. They developed a plan that Liz and Lucky would live with Gia and Nik so that Lucky would be supervised around the clock. The quarters got a little too close when Nik and Liz accidently ended up in the shower together! And then Lucky ended up laying on top of Gia on the couch. Nik used this incedent as an excuse to kick Lucky and Liz out of the cottage (all part of his plan with Luke...to pretend to return to the Cassidines so that he could get information from Helena). Lucky and Nikolas decided it was better to pretend they never were brothers. Now Helena is making Nik hurt everyone he loves in order to prove his loyalty and his making Lucky hurt the people he loves too...injecting the biotoxin into Luke and pushing Elizabeth away in order to keep her safe from this war. But stubborn Elizabeth won't budge...she's taking this war into her own hands and is kidnapping Lucky in order to save him from Helena! |
