On the brink of nuclear, chemical and biological war, the world desperately and urgently needs a new direction. For thousands of years mankind has worshiped mythical deities and messiahs. The result has been ongoing bloodshed and atrocity, and it shows no sign of abating. Religionists inform us that "God" is the answer to the world's problems. Well, if "god" is the answer, then the question must have been pretty bloody stupid.

Let's take a quick look at our own Judeao/Christian heritage. Founded by the slimeball Abraham, a man prepared to murder his own son to curry favour with his diabolical deity, Abraham married his half-sister Sarah, then forced her into prostitution so that he could get rich from her whoring. "God" rewarded the sleazy pimp with immense wealth.

This was Abraham, the founder of Judaism.

And this was the same "god" who – so we're told – had already drowned millions of people because he disaproved of their behaviour. Once the waters subsided and mankind had re-established itself, this "god" of death incinerated the populations of two cities for much the same reason. Not yet content with his body count, this abominable deity set wild bears onto children and had them ripped apart, limb from tiny limb. He even forced parents to eat their own children.

This is Jehovah, alleged creator of the universe.

Jehovah instructed fathers to stone their daughters to death for losing their virginity before marriage, or even on suspicion of their losing their virginity before marriage. He instructed fathers to murder their sons for drunkenness or insolence. Jehovah instructed everybody to murder anyone caught working on the sabbath (Saturday).

After inflicting men with haemorrhoids, and while playing tunes through his anus, the Hebrew monster sent plagues to torture people, locusts to destroy the crops, famines to starve families. In fact "god" did everything within his power to make life on Earth a misery for its inhabitants.

Still, there wasn't enough suffering in the world to satisfy the baleful, ghoul-god Jehovah. So he instructed Moses to slaughter every living creature – man, woman, child, baby and animal – in city after city after city. But there were still some people left alive! So Jehovah commanded Saul, David, Solomon, Joshua, Gideon, and numerous other cut-throats to finish the job.

Eventually though, the Romans conquered the savage Jews. But before scattering far and wide, the Jews had one final act of horror to perform – one of their numbers gave birth to the God of Hell. He was known as Yeshu (Jesus), and thirty years after his birth he hit the messiah trail. A Jewish supremacist, Jesus instructed his disciples to have nothing to do with gentiles. When a Canaanite woman pleaded with Jesus, begged him to cure her sick daughter, he told her it wasn't right for him to waste his powers on "dogs"!

Jesus turned his back on the suffering of slaves, even gloating over their plight. He instructed his followers to mutilate themselves – to gouge out an eye and to sever a hand – for harbouring lustful thoughts. Anyone who didn't worship him he condemned to an eternity spent writhing in hell. Christians see this as a good thing, four billion pagans burning and suffering for ever.

Clearly Jehovah is not the "god" that created our universe. A more disgusting, brutal, and ignorant deity has never been manufactured. Clearly Jesus is not a "saviour" because a saviour would rescue all of mankind, not just Jews.

Jews and Christians have been cruelly misled. For thousands of years they have been worshipping the gods of hate, misery and death. Christians have been worshiping a charlatan who, were he alive today, would despise them and condemn them to hell.

Please don't take my word for any of this, it's all in the Bible. Fortunately for the Church, Christians refuse to read their precious Bible. The Church can then pick out the one or two good bits – such as the forged and interpolated "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" – and convince simpletons that the Bible is a good book. But in the words of the magnificent Thomas Paine –

"People in general know not what wickedness there is in this pretended word of God. Brought up in habits of superstition, they take it for granted that the Bible is true, and that it is good; they permit themselves not to doubt of it, and they carry the ideas they form of the benevolence of the Almighty to the book which they have been taught to believe was written by his authority. Good heavens! it is quite another thing, it is a book of lies, wickedness, and blasphemy; for what can be greater blasphemy, than to ascribe the wickedness of man to the orders of the Almighty!"

So where do we go from here if two of the world's oldest religions are beyond their use-by date? Clearly we need a direction that is appropriate for the 21st century.
