Lucie Mayer

Mezzo-Soprano

A Montréal native, Lucie Mayer has been an active soloist in the Canadian chamber and choral music community for more than a decade. Her recent accomplishments include traveling to Austria as a guest of the Classical Music Festival of Eisenstadt and performing Haydn's Nelson Mass and Beethoven's Mass in C, as well as the music of several noted Québec composers.


Her recent operatic engagements have included the roles of Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) with Opéra Bouffe du Québec, Frau Mary in Vancouver Opera's production of Der Fliegende Hollander (Wagner), and Baba in The Medium (Menotti) with Université de Montreal. Most recently at McGill University, Lucie has performed the roles of Mistress Quickly in Verdi's Falstaff, and Mother Goose in The Rake's Progress by Stravinsky

A passionate performer or contemporary music, she has also premiered the one-woman opera of American composer Robert F.Jones, Miss Havisham's Testament,written especially for her.

With her partner Kevin Armstrong, she has co-written and now performs "The Hand-Held Opera", a musical review aimed at reviving the general public's interest in opera. First performed in Nürnberg, they will travel this Spring to many european cities, among which Zürich, Amsterdam and Vienna. Ms Mayer now resides in Nürnberg,Germany. 1
