This is a winter scene based on the Quebec Cartier Mining Railway, and my favourite railroad. After having railfanned it in late September, 2001, I had to do a series of train gifs for it.
This is a work in progress, and more rolling stock will be added as I draw it. The locomotives are mostly ALCo/MLW's, but I've bowed to prototype and the new GE AC44CW's have arrived on property, you may catch them. While most equipment is based on prototypes today, you may catch a unit in the old Green and Yellow scheme, and perhaps an ex-Bessemer & Lake Erie RSD15. While it isn't exactly prototypical, it allows you to see what's been used in the past.
I've taken some liberties here as the Cartier is single track for the entire route, but this scene clearly has two tracks. For arguements sake, it's set at a long passing siding somewhere south of How. When somebody comes up with a way to accurately replicate signals on a single track gif railroad, this'll be the first of my scenes to receive it!
The general freight's been added, and it'll be modified as soon as I get more info. The freight's main use is transporting fuel oil and bunker oil as well as mining equipment and such to the north end of the line at Mont Wright. Keep an eye out for the employee passenger train as well. All equipment in this scene was drawn by me. You can check out my Cartier gifs page by clicking HERE
