1. Brutus- "for Antony is but a limb of Caesar." This quote shows how close the relationship is between Marc Antony and Julius Caesar. 2. Brutus talking about Caesar- "Think him as a serpents egg, which hatched would as his kink grow miscievous and kill him in the shell." Brutus's quote makes it certain that he wants Julius Caesar to be dead before he has a chance to become the king of Rome. 3. Calpurnia- "You shall not stir out of your house today." This quote is significant because it plainly expresses Calpurnia's feelings about Caesar leaving the house. 4. Decius- "I come to fetch you to the senate house." Decius has been sent to bring Caesar to the senate. Decius has to convince Caesar to be at the senate by eight o'clock so the rest of the plan will be able to occur. Decius- "To give this day a crown to mighty Caesar." Decius hopes to persuade Caesar to go to the Capitol by saying that he will be recieving a crown today. Caesar- "How foolish do your fears seem now, Calpurnia! I am ashamed I did yield to them. Give me my robe, for I will go." This quote is consequential to the play because this decision seals Caesars' fate. Artemidorus- "Here I will stand till Caesar passes along, and as a suitor will I give him this." Artemidorus is trying to warn Julius about his conspirators and their plan to assassinate him. Brutus- "Let us be sacrificers, not butcherers." Brutus wants the citizens of Rome to understand their intentions, not think that they are murderers. Brutus- "And for Marc Antony, think not of him, for he can do no more than Caesar's arm when Caesar's head is off." Brutus doesn't realize that Marc Antony will crave revenge for Caesar's death. Portia- "O' Brutus! The heavens speed thee in thine enterprise." Portia is worried about Brutus and if the plot will go as planned. |
