Shakespeare wrote many other works in his life besides Julius Caesar. They included the popular titles such as; Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and Macbeth.
Hamlet is about a young man who returned to his fathers kingdom to find that his uncle had married Hamlets mother. Hamlet sees the ghostly apparition of his deceased father and Hamlet then gets into a fight with his uncle and thus, everyone involved in the fight dies.
Romeo and Juliet is about two young lovers from diffrent houses in Italy. Romeo from the Capulets and Juliet from the Montague house. They share love as young people do, but they must do it in secret for if either the house knew, it would mean ruin for both of them. They set up a meeting for them to escape and elope, but it backfires horrifically. Romeo thinks Juliet is dead, so he drinks poison and dies, then Juliet (Who was just in a death-like trance) wakes to find her beloved dead. She stabs herself with Romeos' knife and dies. Then the Capulets and Montagues come to realize that their bickering has cost them both two beloved youngsters, and they put aside their differences and lived together peacefully.
Macbeth is a powerful, moving story about a ruthless man who wants the throne of Scotland and will stop at nothing to get it. Actors who are about to perform a play find it bad luck to say Macbeth right before a show starts.
Along with the three mentioned above, Shakespeare also wrote: King Lear, a Midsummers Night Dream, The Tempest, and Antony and Cleopatra.
Shakespeare was a very versatile playwright, who was able to adapt quickly and write to anything from 500 B.C and his modern times (Which were Late 1500's to the early 1600's.) |
