1. How would you feel if you found out that your friend was plotting to murder you?
Response: I would feel as if I had been stabbed in the back by someone I could trust.

2. Have you ever been stabbed in the back by someone who you thought was on your side?
Response: Yes, one of my friends in Vietnam turned against not only me but also our entire platoon.

3. In what way did your friend turn on you?
Response: Well, he was ordered to scout ahead. As we waited for his signal that it was safe to cross, we were fired at by an enemy on our side of the river. As we returned fire and began to cross the bridge we saw our man that was first to cross running away from the conflict.

4. How did his betrayal of your platoon make you feel?
Response: I felt as if I couldn't trust him anymore. I also began wondering if any other soldiers in my platoon would run away from an ambush or firefight as he did.

5. Did that make it harder for you to trust people when you got back to the United States?
Response: No,not really only in life or death situations did it make me think about if I should trust the person that I was dealing with.

6. What would you have done if it was you who was scouting ahread only to come back to see your friends under enemy fire?
Response: Easy, I would have given my friends cover fire and stayed low while making sure that it was safe for them to come across the bridge.

7. Do you think that sometimes people that panic or are misled tend to make costly choices? Do you think that is what happened to your friend?
Response: Yes, I think my friend was put in a bad position, so he panicked and thought for his own life before the safety of the rest of us.

8. Were you more paranoid or worried about having to watch your back after that happened?
Response: I was more aware of my men's positions after that happened but I wasn't any more worried.

9. Would you ever turn against a person who has instilled their trust in you?
Response: No way, I would never do a thing like that to anyone. The only exception would be if my life was on the line.

10. Would you ever be able to plot a murder?
Response: No, I will never kill another person again. The only reason I ever did kill anybody was because I had to protect my own life, during a war.
