In the play of Julius Caesar, I chose the following characters to anaylze: Caesar, Brutus and Antony.

Caesar seems like an okay kind of guy, who just wants to have a lot of power and live the good life. Yet, while he likes to live life up, he is also very smart. He refused to take the crown because he knew that if he did, he would be responsible for the country's problems.

Brutus was the main conspirator and the person who is most assosciated with Julius Caesar. Brutus seems like a man who is very driven to get his goals accomplished and carry them out to the best of his ability. He would have made an excellent soldier, if his loyalties had been better than they were. As much as Brutus and Caesar had, which was a close friendship, Brutus was still determined to make Rome free of tyranny.

Antony was a major part of the play near the end of the whole bit. After Caesar was killed, he made a grand speech over his dead body and convinced the crowd that they needed to hunt down the conspirators, for they had no honour. Antony's motives seem unclear. Sometimes he seems like he is only there for personal gain and uses words to get people on his side, and other times.. he seems like a sincere, and caring man.

Overall, the characters in Julius Caesar were well-rounded and extremely different in personalities and motives for their actions. Shakespeare made these fictional characters seem real, and like they had depth to them.
