Today's post comment, from me will be
short and not so sweet! The RIGHT WINGED
( and I don't mean angel wings
) HATE GROUPS that are out there constantly brewing up their HATE
CONCOCTIONS are really the heart and
soul of the
Republican party. A quote from Ron Reagan, son of Ronald,
(paraphrasing here) I WOULD NEVER BELONG TO A PARTY (re: republican
party) THAT ENCOURAGES BIGOTRIES. That says it all. Below is an
article written about such a right winged bigot. Thank you,

How Ann Coulter Gets Away With Defaming Liberals
NEW YORK--My utterances occasionally spark controversy but I've got
nothing on Ann Coulter. The star Republican pundit, who has spewed
more racist, offensive and defamatory slurs in a week than Louis
Farrakhan and Pat Robertson have in their whole lives combined, has
turned slander and threats of violence into a cottage industry.
Coulter thinks the nation's top journalists deserve to die. "My only
regret with Timothy McVeigh," Coulter sneered in reference to the
Oklahoma City bomber, "is he did not go to the New York Times
building." After 9/11, she validated radical Islamists' fear and
hatred: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and
convert them to Christianity."
After he called for the assassination of the president of Venezuela,
conservatives pressured Rev. Robertson to apologize. But when Coulter
dropped the following three racist slurs and a fatwa on the Iranian
president in a single paragraph of her syndicated column last week, no
one blinked: "If you don't want to get shot by the police, Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad, then don't point a toy gun at them. Or, as I believe our
motto should be after 9/11: Jihad monkey talks tough; jihad monkey
takes the consequences. Sorry, I realize that's offensive. How about
'camel jockey'? What? Now what'd I say? Boy, you tent merchants sure
are touchy. Grow up, would you?"
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist was asked about Coulter's use of the
r-word--"ragheads"--to refer to Muslims. "I better not comment," he
said.
Threatening the life of a top government official violates federal law
but it's just another throwaway line for Coulter. "We need somebody to
put rat poison in Justice [John Paul] Stevens' crème brulée," she said
earlier this month. Imagine the outrage if a Democrat said the same
thing about Antonin Scalia.
Coulter is the Republican Id, giving voice to ugly sentiments that
other conservatives don't dare express aloud for fear of public
censure: Muslims are subhuman, torture is OK, all liberals are
traitors. "Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate
abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11.
Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do," she spat
in 2002. For Coulter, there is never censure--only more royalties from
her bestselling books.
Coulter is a nasty, foul-mouthed bigot--all of which, like my
observation of same, is thankfully protected by the First Amendment.
The same cannot be said, however, about her malicious lies about me.
In the same column as her aforementioned anti-Muslim slurs Coulter
wrote: "Iran is led by a lunatic who makes a big point of denying the
Holocaust. Indeed, in response to the Muhammad cartoons, one Iranian
newspaper is soliciting cartoons about the Holocaust. (So far the only
submissions have come from Ted Rall, Garry Trudeau and The New York
Times.)"
This comment was apparently a rehash of a speech she delivered to the
influential Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC). "Iran is
soliciting cartoons on the Holocaust," she told a thousand-plus
audience that included Dick Cheney. "So far, only Ted Rall,
Garry Trudeau, and The New York Times have made submissions." Let's
hope CPAC didn't pay her for original material.
Coulter is entitled to her opinions, not to lie about the facts.
I have not entered, nor do I intend to enter, Iran's anti-Holocaust
cartoon contest. And I don't take kindly to being associated with the
Iranian president's comments denying Nazi atrocities. Yo, Ann:
criticizing Bush doesn't make me a neo-Nazi anti-Semitic Holocaust
denier. In fact, I despise Bush precisely because his rise to
power, love of violence and jingoism mirror those of the Third Reich.
Coulter's defenders say she was "just joking." Her enemies say they
don't take her seriously. But the content of her column, which
references the Egyptian ferry disaster and the Danish Mohammed cartoon
hubbub, with a central thesis that advocates "bombing Syria back to
the stone age and then permanently disarming Iran," is deadly serious.
Which is exactly the way her readers, who sent me e-mails calling me
an anti-Semite and anti-American traitor, took her lie about me.
"Iran's cartoon contest is the sort of thing you'd expect Ted Rall to
enter" would have qualified as (bad) satire. But she didn't say that.
Canny marketing of Coulter's sexuality has elevated her to alpha
female status among a post-9/11 pack of right-wing attack dogs. These
neo-McCarthyites (Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Andrew Sullivan) think
they can get away with saying anything, no matter how factually
inaccurate, about their political opponents. And they've been
right--because wimpy liberals refuse to stand up for themselves.
So far.
During the 1950s, when a delusional alcoholic named Joe McCarthy
ruined careers and reputations by smearing liberal Democrats as
traitors, Army lawyer Joseph Welch marked the beginning of
America's return to sanity by snapping at the thuggish senator on TV:
"You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency sir, at long last?
Have you left no sense of decency?" (Coulter's book Treason claims
that McCarthy was a swell guy who was right all along, and that the
Eisenhower Administration was full of Commies.)
We need another Joseph Welch. We must hold the neo-McCarthyite Coulter
smear machine that slimed Max Cleland ("He didn't give his limbs for
his country,' or leave them 'on the battlefield,'" she said, "There
was no bravery involved ...") accountable for its lies. It's a matter
of decency, honor and setting the record straight.
As far as I can tell, no one has ever sued Coulter for slander or
libel. That may change. My attorney tells me I have an actionable
claim on two counts, for both the CPAC speech and the column. It
wouldn't be an open-and-shut case, but there are precedents in my
favor. Readers of my
Rallblog
have pledged nearly $9000 if I file such a lawsuit, but it would take
several times that amount to keep fighting until I get my day in
court. A deep-pocketed angel would make the difference, but there,
alas, is the root of the trouble with the American left.
Right-wingers, unified and organized, always stand fast and dig deep
to protect their ideas and their people. They even run interference
for their dead; they bullied ABC into canceling a less than
hagiographical film about Ronald Reagan. They celebrate extremists
like Ann Coulter, inviting her to speak at conventions attended by
their brightest lights. Democrats, on the other hand, keep their most
articulate advocates like Howard Dean under wraps. Trivial differences
of style and ideology become reasons for lefties not to help each
other out when they're attacked. So it will likely go once more, as
Coulter gets away with yet another outrageous smear.

Know thy enemy
A reader's critque of this book:
It is a fact that President Bush and the Republicans HAVE squashed the
Democrats. If one is a Democrat (and I am) one should read this book
because it is quite insightful.
How can Bush have survived so many egregious blunders? Anyone with
half a brain could have seen that his war of choice based on
cherry-picked intelligence was not going to go well. For about 30+
years, the Brits got beaten in Iraq early last century. The Bushies,
by the way, thought that the price of oil was going to drop quickly
after the inevitable rise caused by their invasion. Has it? It's
ticking around 60, and threatens to go higher, not lower. Hurricane
season is just around the corner by the way, and money continues to
flow Iraq, and to care for ever growing numbers of our youth, disabled
and disfigured by road side bombs and bullets. Soon, if Mr. Bush has
his way, more money will flow to the United Arab Emirates (UAE)--that
nation with a terrific record on human rights and that WAS involved
with 9/11--not Iraq as Mr. Cheney (Mr. Five Deferments) still asserts
to the ill-informed out there. Why? Well, because the White House and
Fox insist that the UAE is like England. Really? And they're just like
the Saudis too--really--but even more so. Why? Because 17 of the 9/11
terrorists were Saudi and only 2 were from the UAE, and Mr. Bush holds
hands with Saudi royalty after all. C'mon Jesus freak Americans, keep
on buying the biggest SUVs you can to help feed the poor of the
world...err...to help fund the poor terrorists living like animals in
caves. Oh yeah, and still about 5% of our inbound material gets
inspected at US ports--but we of the turn-the-other-cheek (invade
Iraq) Jezuz clan be safer from gays gettin' hitched tain't we? Why
don't we invade Iran? Take Bush's WMD speeches on Iraq and change the
q to n. There we go...let's get the tanks rolling! What? We don't have
the resources? Sure we do! The Army knows that all they have to do is
lower their enlistment requirements ever lower.
Why did the president stay on vacation after Katrina did its damage?
Was he watching FOX, which was reporting that New Orleans had dodged a
bullet? As an ex-officer of the United States Air Force, I know that
our Air Force could have easily dropped tons of supplies to victims of
Katrina. Instead, the Mexican army rolled into our nation with food
supplies while our people appeared on worldwide TV looking like third
world victims. Does anyone remember that after trying to award
Halliburton and its subsidiaries the reconstruction contracts, that
Mr. Bush tried to kill the minimum wage requirement for the workers?
Can you believe that? And now, 6 months later, where is the money for
restoration of the devastated areas? Mismanaged to say the least. And
weren't funds to spruce the levies killed by Mr. Bush in the first
place despite the reports citing the possibility of an enormous
disaster in New Orleans? Where are the people now?
How on Earth I ask myself could a ban on gay marriage ever have become
an election campaign issue when we were at war, had an energy
dependency problem, had problems with Medicare and Social Security,
had increasingly more Americans without medical insurance and so on?
Just say Jesus??? That's it? And soon the Republicants will be
campaigning against gay adoption. In a post 9/11 world, its better to
have the unwanted children raped, beaten and killed in good Christian
foster homes.
What about science? We had Bushies changing/twisting adjectives in
global warming science reports. Just recently, we had a 23 (24?) year
old Bushy kid with NO DEGREE (he lied) squashing global warming
scientists at NASA. In his most recent State of the Union speech Mr.
Bush, MBA, dropped a line about getting rid of animal/human hybrid
animals? I guess he doesn't know where or how insulin is made--human
genes inside other animals--yucky!--and more of our medicines will
come via these ways of the devil. Yeah...let's ban these abominations.
And let's hamper stem cell research while we're at it...a few cells
with no brains or heartbeat are Holy...so chuck 'em into a trash can
instead of trying to develop medicines to save lives. Bush and company
are killers in the name of their purported god. I say purported,
because I'm not sure just how Christian Bush really is...I suspect
pandering more than piety--think about so-called Intelligent Design!
Indeed some kind of lousy, cruel god may have created existence, but
this is an article of faith, and science, by definition, has no
articles of faith--only ideas that must ever be tested by experiment
and observation. I'm sure that red state troglodytes won't get this.
These "people" still wonder if their hands still exist the moment they
stick them 'em in their progressively emptier pockets-real income has
dropped since the rise of King George. And when one of their kids
dies, they can be happy that Chucky has gone to heaven to help his
omnipotent lord. (Disclaimer: Perhaps Jezuz prayin' is becoming more
effective today. In the 50s, childhood leukemia was nearly always a
death sentence. Now, upwards of 90+% survive. The power of prayer has
really come along. We don't need modern, science based voodoo.)
But you know something? I'm proud of Bush's vision of science. He
wants to put Americans back on the moon by 2020. Imagine that!
Americans walking on the moon, and only in about 15 years. Wow!!! I
guessed Bush didn't hear of Kennedy's push for the moon way back when.
For you red state folk, the United States of Christ put man on the
moon in 1969 in less than a decade with 60s technology. Make America
shine Mr. Bush! Give us the vision and opportunity to show the world
our technological prowess. You cut spending for education. Thank you.
It must mean that you have faith that like Jesus, we too can get blood
from a rock--something more and more Americans are gettin' good at as
real income has dropped since Bush has been in power--do the research
yourself. But this is okay, as Mr. Bush is a man of Jesus, and he
don't need no stinking FISA court.
Democrats, buy this book...learn from it before its too late.
