Macavity is the villian of the musical, a tall ginger cat with sunken eyes, the "Napoeleon of crime." He is the terror of the other cats and at one point kidnaps Old Deuteronomy. He also quite possibly has a romantic link with Demeter and Bombalurina, who sing about him after he kidnaps Old Deut. with a very suspicious passion. Mungojerry and Grindlebone are mentioned by the two as his agents. | ||||||||||||
When Macavity finally makes an appearance, it's to kidnap Demeter. Munkustrap steps in and saves her, battling Macavity. Munkustrap is failed and Macavity, badly injured, flees the scene. In T.S. Elliot's poem, Macavity is the" Hidden Paw, the master criminal that can defy the law." |
