I’m certainly going to try doing my own face up. I’ll fail the first time, erase the face, and try again. There’s no such thing as a permanent face up, unless you do something REALLY damaging to your doll, such as using oil-based products, etc. I opted to do my own face up because I already have most of the materials and the free time to waste them with *cough* There are plenty of face up tutorials on the web as well as forums with helpful BJD fanatics. So do plenty of research before you jump into anything – that’s something I’ve had to learn the hard way in the past. Curse my impulsive nature! |

Once you have your blank, ready-to-customize-doll, you can begin to think of her or his character. It sounds silly, I know, but once you know “who” your doll is, it will be a lot easier to pick out clothes and hair and names. Is your doll a punk rocker? A miserable emo chick? A celtic princess? A vampire? A woodland fairy? (Small Obitsus can’t take pointed ears, but if you buy a 60cm model and Gretel head, you can make a fairy).
Anyway, I found that once I figured out who my doll was, it was a lot easier to picture what kind of clothes I wanted for her (Not telling! You’ll just have to wait and see!). I hope this little “guide” of mine helped out another beginner. Below is a list of good websites to visit. Take care and good luck! |
