Communication Breakdown, It's always the same, I'm having a nervous breakdown, Drive me insane! Vegeta's heart quickened as he pursued his quarry through the woods. He could feel her ki. He could smell her fear. He could feel his own hunger for her. This was the greatest night of his life, and he was going to enjoy it for all it was worth. He let out a blood curdling howl of animal joy as he caught sight of her. He could have flown and easily caught her, but that would have taken the fun out of it. He didn't want it to be over so quickly. He was enjoying letting her try to elude him. 'She's pathetic!' He smiled wickedly to himself. He could see her footprints so clearly in the crushed grass left under her feet. 'She doesn't even have the sense to keep to the stony places to hide her tracks! Trying to hide in the brush, as if she could hide from me! Fool!' He reached a clearing in the brush framed on one side by an evil looking briar patch. More than briars, wicked, inch long thorns jutted out, menacing anyone seeking to leave the path. Vegeta heard rustling and whimpers coming from the tangle of thorns and came upon Bulma, caught by her hair in the midst. She stifled a shriek when she caught sight of him. Vegeta gave her an ugly laugh as she did. "Looks like you didn't make as far as you wanted to." Vegeta smugly taunted. "No matter! I think I can have my fun right here." Bulma tried to shrink farther into the tangle of thorns but yelped when the thorns dug into the flesh exposed by her torn clothing. Vegeta leaped into the air pouncing down just before the briar path, he stuck his face in a clear space among the thorns, giving the arrogant smile of the victor. "I have wanted to do this, since the first time I set eyes on you." He shot an arm through a space in the thorns taking her by the throat. Bulma screamed in terror, as Vegeta took her by the throat. As she screamed, Vegeta's expression went from a wicked smile, to confusion, to complete fury. "So you hate me!" Vegeta screamed at her. "Is that why you took me in, in the first place to have your revenge on me? You think I've changed so much I'll do nothing while you laugh at me? Make a fool of me? You will find out just how wrong you can be, woman!" His face twisted, his teeth barred into the expression of an enraged animal. He reached through taking her by the hair. Bulma shrieked as he ripped her hair loose from the thorns. He grabbed her by the shoulders to pull her from the thorn bush, when a huge shadow passed overhead. Before Vegeta even knew what happened, he heard Bulma shriek in terror and pain as a huge claw ripped her out of the thorn bush and carried her off. "A trap!" Vegeta gasped as he saw the huge pterasaur carry her off. 'Is this her challenger, this monstrosity?' He knew it could not be when he saw the blood trailing from the talon marks in her side. His rage turned to white-hot wrath. 'How dare the brute interfere!' He flew up, after the beast. Taking Bulma in one hand, he used the other to punch the beast right in the head. Blood spattered everywhere, including over Bulma, who cried out in horror. The monster fell away, as Vegeta held onto Bulma's arm. He half-expected relief or gratitude from her, but she hung there by her arm making no attempt grab hold of him for support. His rage at her drained away when he saw her face. It was the look of someone who had given up. He knew that look, only too well. He could remember only too well, when he had expended all his energy on Furiza and knew all his efforts were useless. How Furiza had taunted him. How Vegeta just gave up, knowing he was going to not just die, but be slowly tortured to death and there was nothing he could do about it. He had hung there in the sky, feeling the shame of tears running down his face and simply waited for Furiza to kill him-and he did, very, very slowly. 'Does she hate me that much?' "Woman!" He yelled at her. "What the hell is wrong with you?" Tears were freely falling down Bulma's face as she hung lifelessly by her arm, knowing nothing she did now, would make any difference. He had won. Her only hope is that he would make it quick. Her pride welled up and told her she wouldn't beg for mercy, but something deeper told her that she had more than her pride to live for. "Vegeta," she couldn't even raise her head to look in his eyes. "Don't kill me. It wasn't my fault. I didn't plan for this to happen. If you want nothing to do with him, I'll understand. I'll raise him by myself. We'll, never bother you again. Just please don't kill me. Let our baby live!" The last was a weak cry of despair. Vegeta was so shocked at her last statement, he almost let go of her, but had the sense to keep hold. He put a supporting arm around her back and drew her into him. 'Baby? What the fuck! Is she out of her mind? What the hell is going on here?' He drew her into his arms and carried her off into the night. |
