Past: Elly was born to a middle-class family of fish merchants in Immersea. He was one of five children, and

History: Elly first met Miss Waters by pulling her out of a the sea while fishing. She immediately explained that the town would be overrun in days or weeks and everyone would be killed, then took him away. He was brought to a small shrine in the middle of a forest, where Miss Waters introduced him to a priestess of Lliira, and then left him to begin his training, which lasted six months. Miss Waters then returned, and instructed him in the ways of magic for several months before vanishing as quickly as she came, leaving Elly to fend for himself in the shrine. A week later, the party arrived, brought by Miss Waters, and was sealed in. It was here Elly’s power was awakened.
The door opened, and they discovered that they had passed through two years without noticing – and completely missing the Time of Troubles. Sir Doust summoned Ymandra to Arabel, so the party followed her to the city, there to receive a quest to find Miss Waters. The party decided to head to Shadowdale first, and on the way met up with a stuck up Psion named Josh who, through an accident of Elly’s power, became quite enamoured with him…and the two of them got together shortly after. They left Tilverton and made their way through the Dalelands…and Elly was killed by a swarm of blood hawks on the way, with Emelina killed shortly after by Bugbears. Upon reaching Shadowdale they accepted a quest with the hopes that by providing this service the nearby Druid grove would bring the two deceased back to life. The delved into the catacombs beneath a tower, only to discover a Drow plot, which they managed to disrupt. In response, the Druids reincarnated both Emelina and Elly, but both in human bodies.
From there the party decided to make their way to Amn, but on the way was captured by Drow, along with Miss Waters. She, along with Ymandra and her unicorn, helped them escape…only to be caught shortly after by the Horde. For several months the party was held captive and brought through a strange portal to a distant land. There, Ymandra and Miss Waters once again saved the party from captivity, and they escaped from the Horde into the lands of Raka-ti, where they were brought to the Dali Lama, and told they could never leave (but were given powerful magical gifts to make up for it). When the Lich King made his demand, the party took on the quest to slay him – a process which took more than half a year, and trekking across most of the eastern lands. After several encounters with the Horde and the Purple Dragon Gumahavi, the party finally recovered the Stone Sceptre of Shi, capable of destroying the Lich King once and for all, though Elly died in the process, and was brought back by a Wish – which left his skin an icy blue as a blessing from the Padra. Emelina also died, but her body vanished upon resurrection.
Once that was done, the party saved the Horde from the control of the Psion calling himself “Evil Sorcerer”, thanks to Mort and his fiery ball of exploding death. After that, the party made haste to the portal and, with Elly’s knowledge of astronomy, managed to figure out how to locate the gateways and find a way home. They found Emelina shortly after.
After that, the party took some much-needed time off, during which time Elly joined the army and did a fair deal of spell research, developing many new spells and a still-spelling technique. During that time he was also attacked by an apparent werewolf, though no ill effects occurred and so he was released from quarantine. During that time, Ymandra accepted a job from the current head of the Church of Tymora to clear out an ancient keep beneath Arabel. Though the party agreed that it was suicide, they followed her anyway. After fighting a lich and a deep spawn, they re-emerged successfully, only to denounce the Baron as evil.
Miss Waters during this time also explained to Elly the nature of his ‘lycanthropy’, which was actually a divine curse. He had the ability to transform into a lupinal, but only when subject to pain.
The party’s relaxation period was cut short by the death of Miss Waters during a celebration of Josh’s newborn son (not an event particularly celebrated by Elly), and sent the party on another quest – this one to find a potion which would restore her to life. On the way to the cavern where the potion was hidden, they party was attacked by a Feyr, which ended up killing Elly and sending him to his native plane of Arborea, Brightwater. Though a Solar quickly sent him back, his true nature was explained, and thereafter Elly was capable of transforming into a Lupinal almost at will.
The party entered the gauntlet to find the elixir which would save Miss Waters, facing down many trials. It was here, however, that Elly met his final end. He was slain and disintegrated by a black pudding, sending him back to Brightwater for all time due to the nature of the gauntlet.
