he requirements for this class include four formal essays and a research paper. The essays are as follows: process analysis, definiton, compare/contrast, and persuasive. We will be reading essays in these categories and using them as models for our own writing. All of our work will be published on our web pages.

You may choose the topic of your research paper. I only ask that it be a topic that you feel passionate about. Oh yeah, and that you run it by me first! Your research topic may also be the topic of the four essays you write. This should make the research paper less overwhelming as you will have a decent amount of writing that you can integrate with your research. The sources of your research will be the internet, books, magazines, newspapers, and some hands-on research (interviews, observations, surveys, etc.).

The first paper will be the process analysis essay. I ask that you read the selections in the reader and the essays that I will distribute in class and use these as models for your writing. The first draft is due on Friday, March 3rd. You'll need to start a new file (process.html) and add a link to your homepage.

The second paper will be the definition essay. Again, read selections in the reader and the essays that I will distribute in class to inform your understanding of how the essay should be written. The first draft is due Wednesday, March 29th. You'll need to start a new file (definition.html) and add a link to your homepage.

The third paper will be a comparison-contrast essay. The final draft is due by Thursday, May 4th.

The fourth paper will be a persuasive essay . The final draft is due by Thursday, May 11th.

The Research Paper is the most important paper we will be writing this term. 1
