Viva La R E V O L U T I O N
WHY. It seems like the Revolutionary Spirit has been dead for decades now. It use to be "protest for this" and "contest against that." But it's all faded away into de facto acceptance of the status quo. What's gone wrong?
The Civil Rights movement from 1950's on into the 1970's, a revolution for social equality. The Anti-War movement from the mid 1960's to mid 1970's, a revolution against a senseless war and war in general. The Hippie Counter-subculture of the same period, a revolution for alternative social structure. The Pro-Earth movements, a revolution for the softer infrastructures as well as a revolution against the hard infrastructures of civilization. They've all faded away into history. They've all left significant changes, both good and bad, I suppose... but little or no legacy.
For the past two decades, there's been a drifting away from these older idealogies and toward something that appears to be an idealogy of "I" and "Self." Single issue ideals so specific and narrow that there's no common ground to stand as a group. Some simply sleep till their particular interest is supposedly threatened; then they awaken for a short time, protest, and go back to sleep after the threat has passed by. Everyone is just protecting their own bit of turf.
WHAT. Maybe it's become a question of what are those special, specific interests... the here and now interests. Most have always been, the causes of and for Revolution havent really changed, it's just become a matter of polarization and focus, issues becoming more and more defined to a single point.
Make a list of them (causes, interests, idealogy, issues) as they come to mind. It's a common list of standard, current day topics. Look again at the list and bring to mind how long it's been an issue... how it's become more and more narrow in scope... what triggers it's coverage in the news... what images are associated when it is covered in the news... how many facets are there to each. Look again at the list, look for what's missing... any signs of Revolution present?
Within recent memory there's been only one, I suppose, the Anti-War Civil Rights Hippie Counter-Culture Green Earth Revolution. Maybe another, the Lunar Space Exploration Hi-Tec Revolution. But exactly what made them revolutions? There were no bloody wars like the American, French, Russian or any like them; no old governments fell, no new ones established either. They were images, experienced either in real-time real-life or remotely (and filtered) by television, of street and campus protests and riots; images of launch vehicles, space vehicles, men in space suits; marches and speeches.
WHERE. Look over your list again. Where's the endless hours of coverage like the space launches, orbits, trips to the Moon? Where's the beginning to ending coverage of Civil Rights speeches and marches? Indeed, where's the speeches of the great and better things to come, the changes from the status quo brought about by Revolution? Where's the commoners talk of idealogy, philosophy of the way things should be? Where's the Goals and Objectives for achieving the way thing should be? Faded away perhaps, like the smoke from those topedeos, replaced by port-folios or wondering how to make ends meet... for the rest of they lives.
PAST. Faded away into the past, like all the other Goals and Objectives. The American Revolution... supposedly for freedom, for people to pursue their own lives as they may... supposedly from oppression and tyranny... supposedly for a people represented form of government... supposedly for freedom of worship whatever faith one chooses. But just supposedly.
Look over your list again, is Abortion there?
It's become an issue of between opposing organizations, one for and one against, for their own self existence. The woman has the right to pursue her life as she may; the child has a right to live. But what kind of life for each... and according to who's design? Do either of the opposing groups really and truly concern themselves for the woman or the child? It's become a battle over which side of the street the protesters are allowed to rally. It's become building fortresses with armed escorts for some poor lady who didnt really want to be there away.
Consider how the religious Christain extremists have reduced themselves to being murderers of adults, supposedly in order to prevent so-called murders of the unborn. How they have harrassed, intimidated others who do not practice their own particular religious beliefs.
Consider how neither seem to concern themselves with the father's rights, or the grandparents, or their religious beliefs, or even if the abortion decision was made collectively by those who would be most directly responsible for the child's life.
Is political reform there?
Once was the time when it was a Monarch who ruled the land... for good or bad... with or without taxation, with or without representation... along with or against the wealthy. How is it now? A four or eight year Monarch, some five hundred and thirty five minor monarchs with unlimited reigns, usually the wealthy... there's still taxation and it is with representation of the people... in theory.
"... we pledge our lives and fortunes...." so it is written in one of the founding documents. It seems to mean now, as it really did then, "we pledge the lives of the common folk toward our own greater fortune."
FUTURE. So how can any other Revolution be different from those of the Past.
First there has to be something to revolt against it seems. That is the order of things leading up to a Revolution for its opposite. There was first oppression, religious, slavery, civil rights and others. The revolt was against such. Then came the Revolutions for their opposites, religious freedoms, abolishment of slavery, civil rights for all.
But what is the new oppression? What is the revolt against? What is the Revolution to be for?
Whatever is fundamentally wrong. It begins with the causes of being wrong.
There's excessive taxation oppression which leads to tax revolt which leads to revolution for less tax. But pause and think again. It's not excessive taxation, it's the waste and fraud that leads to more taxation. But pause and think again. It's not the waste and fraud, it's the greed of individuals that lead to waste and fraud. So the oppression is greed, the revolt is against greed, the Revolution is for more effective spending of tax revenue.
There's violence among the youth which leads to revolt against violence which leads to revolution for less violence. But pause and think again. It's not violence among the youth, it's the motivation that leads to violence. But pause and think again. It's not the motivation, but the causes of motivation. So the oppression is cause of violence, the revolt is against those causes, the Revolution is for tolerance and understanding among the youth.
The same applies to violence among the adults and the general society.
There's the oppression of commonly accepted wrongs in society which leads to revolt against those wrongs whichs leads to Revolution for their opposites. But pause and think again. It's not the wrongs, it's the common acceptance of them being wrong. But pause and think again, it's not common acceptance, but the cause of them being commonly accepted. So the oppression is cause of common beliefs in the wrongs of society, the revolt is against those causes, the Revolution is for removal of those causes.
Revolution Issues.
Respect for each other and tolerance for each other's differences.
Zero tolerance for abuse of governing offices, public and private.
Improvement in the general public's knowledge of information relating to the real issues in society.
HOW. How does one go about re-engineering and re-designing society? It begins within the Youth World with an attitude adjustment. The process operates continuiously within Youth World, a continuious attitude adjustment moving one generation at a time toward the goal. It's the older kids teaching the younger kids this new attitude. The youth grow to become part of the Adult World and takes their new attitude with them. Only a fraction of the new attitude will survive in the Adult World. Both a simple and long term plan.
It's been the short sightedness in the Adult World that has hindered progress in the past and present. Short term goals and objectives in personal lives lead to the same for society: get through this day's problems, looking at next Quarter's profit/loss, next Summer's vacation, a business's five year plan, the kids' education, personal retirement. It's always been the Hundred Year Plan and Ten Generation Plan that's been missing.
The cycle period closely follows the school groups: university / technocial school, high school, middle school, elementary school. Four cycles of attitude adjustments for each generation of 25 years.
This is so stupid... like everything else in my life has been... so stupid.
