Hello Folks,
School has started in Nuiqsut, Alaska where I am now teaching. We left Noatak last May. We decided not to return to Noatak and in August of this year I landed a position with the NSBSD. In Nuiqsut I am teaching social studies and PE to Middle School and High School students.
We spent the summer camping in Southcentral Alaska. We camped in Homer to Valdez and points in between. Homer was nice but cool for the wind coming off the water made it cool, so we camped in Anchor Point for a couple of days. Although it rainned most of the summe we stayed dry in our tent for it had a tarp over it. In Valdez it rainned. We even drove up to Fairbanks and got caught in a thunder storm while camping there! Camped also in Soldotna and Seward. I was hoping to touch base with our principal in Seward but he must of been out of town.
Today it snowed, it has been snowed prior to this day but it doesn;t stay. Nuiqsut is a nice village and the people here are very friendly. Whaling crews are returning and have returned with whales they have harvested.
We wish Rod & April Pruitt, Michael & Ana Edison, and the Mook a good and healthy year. Ruiz Family
