I stood with Washington at Valley Forge I stood the cold, hunger and the pain In the end I got my reward I got what I had set out to gain
I won my countries freedom at a great cost I seen my fathers, brothers and friends fall I saw all the lives that were lost But many times again I answered the call
I cried when I fought against my brothers in our civil war I vowed this type of war I would never fight again However, I have answered the call many times as before Everytime I think this madness will never end
I was in France in the war to end all wars world war one I thought this is my last I can't take anymore I was devastated at damage that had been done I only wanted to live in peace and get back to my own shores
I was called again in nineteen forty-one I had to fight again to keep our countries freedom I stood toe to toe with enemy and did what had to be done again I won
I have been called since for Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm I did my duty and did not complain As I will again if the need arises to protect my freedom and my rights But I hope that someday these wars will end and I can rest eternally and end the pain
