~ An Empty Ship ~
My soul is like an empty ship afloat Bobbing and weaving with the wind and tide It is not like a manned boat It has no anchor nor something or someone to Guide
It is the total freedom I always desired Untethered and a spirit that is totally free I feel akin to others that in the past I have admired But now I wonder what kind of group we are
I know that now we are a minority We thought we had it all and free will would last However, our curiosity of earlier years is no longer a priority Free love and flower power are a thing of the past
As we get older and more insecure about eternity We start to change and look for a place for our souls to moor We start searching in a different place for serenity We start to think of another way of life, another door
We see now the fruits of our conquests The degrading of our children and grandchildren's values The spiritual decline and the moral unrest We did not know the future but should have guessed
We can only hope that something or someone will turn the tide If not, our link to the future will degenerate We must quit giving our descendants excuses and places to hide If not we will lose our link to immortality, it will disintegrate
