The Midterm Examination will be composed of three parts:

Part One:  Historical Contexts

• Identify the dates and the significance of five (5) of the following events.  Do NOT answer more than five (5 points each).  There will be seven events from which to choose.
• Most of the events in this section have been covered repeatedly in class, but you may also skim through the various discussion question pages for other dates that may come up.

Part Two:  Short Answer

• Please provide complete responses to eight (8) of the following questions.  Be sure to identify the author and title of the work from which any quotes come.  Do NOT answer more than eight (8 points each).
• These questions come exclusively from the Discussion Questions found on our web page and will include 
• identification/explanation of quotes,
• explanation of concepts
• and discussion of contextual information.

Part Three: Slightly Longer Answer

• Please develop a solid paragraph (ca. 150 words) explaining the ways in which ONE of the following poems exemplifies the characteristics of the Romantic Period.  Be sure to identify the author.  Do NOT answer more than one (15 points).
