Horatio and Marcellus meet with the guard Fancisco on duty. Banardo takes Francisco’s spot as the guard. Barnardo then explains what he has seen a ghost that walks the night looking like the King and dressed in his armor that was wore in combat by Fotinbras of Norway. Horatio could not believe it until he had seen the ghost Horatio tries to speak to the ghost, the ghost doesn’t answer and takes affiance and leaves. The ghost then appears once again. Horatio tries to speak to the ghost again and tells Marcellus to strike out at the ghost so it will stay put. The ghost then was about to talk until the cook crowed. Horatio wants to tell young Hamlet what they have seen tonight. They believe that the ghost will eventually speak to Hamlet but them. Horatio and Marcellus goes to find Hamlet to tell him what they have seen.
Act 1 Scene 2
Hamlet the senior dies suddenly. Hamlet Jr. Is still away at college studying drama.hamlet Jr. Doesn’t know about the death of his father. Claudius, Hamlet seniors brother blieves that Hamlet Jr. Being away at school and how young he is not ready to become King. Claudius wants to become King and he knows to do so he must kill Hamlet Jr. Or marry his sister in law Gertrude. An Hamlet Jr. Being away he then marries Gertrude now being the King. The new King delivers a speech that is very straight forward. About the death, him marrying Gertrude, his feelings all about this and about Fortinbras. Hamlet returned to Denmark and doesn’t like the ideal of his mother marrying just after a month to his uncle. They asked Hamlet to stay with them and not to return to Wittenberg University. Horatio, Barnardo, and Marcellus comr and visit Hamlet to tell him of th figure they saw while at guard. Hamlet is excited and wants to see this figure of his real father Lord Hamlet. Hamlet will visit the platform Horatio and the others stand guard between eleven and twelve to see the spirit of his father.
Act 1 Scene 3
The scene starts off with Ophelia and her brother Laertes talking. Laertes warns Ophelia of Hamlet. Warns her how Hamlet is and how he uses his words to get what he wants and how he has to please his family and everyone but himself of the girl he loves. Then Laertes has to leave and Polonius comes in Ophelias father to talk to her about Hamlet as well. Polonius tells Ophelia what he has heard from other people about her and Hamlet spending a lot of time alone.
Act 1 Scene 4
Hamlet, Marcellus, and Horatio go to the spot were the ghost appears. Just after twelve the ghost appears. Hamlet speaks to it, it doesn’t respond. The ghost then waves on Hamlet to go with him to follow him somewhere. Marcellus and Horatio grabs Hamlet not to go with the ghost. Hamlet gets upset and draws his sword in faa so he may follow the ghost. Marcellus and Horatio let Hamlet go, but they follow him to see what the ghost is going th show Hamlet.
Act 1 Scene 5
The relationship between Hamlet and Claudius in Hamlets eyes- Hamlet first sees Claudius as his uncle. Then he sees him as acold hearted man who decided to take the throne and being very flirtatious to his mother who was now his wife. Meaning now Hamlets father is Claudius the new King and his real father was murdered by Claudius (his brother).
