| “Where have you two been?” Tess asked as Michael and Maria stepped out of the elevator. She was standing outside her apartment saying good night to Kyle. “And why are you wet?” “We’ve been to the public pool at least that’s what it said on the gates” Maria smiled. Kyle arched an eyebrow. “You broke in?” “Yepp” Michael nodded. “But it was really nice and don’t worry, we didn’t break anything” “Okay, why are you smiling that much?” Maria asked and looked at Tess. “Kyle asked me to the prom” Tess cheered with joy. Maria looked at the three mortals in the room with a confused look. “Prom?” “It’s a dance. We dress up and dance and have a good time with those we like” Tess smiled. “I know Alex is taking Isabel and Max is taking Liz so why don’t you Michael take Maria?” “I don’t dance” Both Michael and Maria answered at the same time. Tess and Kyle looked at each other and then burst out laughing. “Oh come on, we can teach you how to dance and I really want you two to come. Please, please, please” “Besides, this might be a way to get rid of Courtney” Kyle added. “She’ll chase you all night otherwise and you know it” “Wanna go to the prom with me?” Michael asked immediately Maria scratched her head slightly. “I’m still not sure about his whole dancing idea; I don’t even own a dress” “We’ll help you” Tess said quickly and gave Maria her best puppy eyes. Maria shrugged slightly. “Sure” ********** “You’re going to the prom with Michael?” Isabel asked and looked at Maria. Maria gave her a strange look. “Yeah but I don’t get what the big deal is” “This is like the biggest happening ever, it’s the PROM” Isabel said and spelled out the last word. Maria looked at Max, Michael, Alex and Kyle who just shook their heads. “What are you going to wear?” Liz asked. “Well, I don’t have a dress, I came here with one outfit you know” Maria said and arched an eyebrow. “Wasn’t planning on getting stuck on earth” Isabel waved her hand in the air. “Say no more, we’re gonna fix you the best dress so that Michael won’t know what hit him” Michael studied Maria while Isabel began pestering her with details about different dresses. She was really beautiful and he was beginning to get afraid that Isabel didn’t have to dress Maria up to make him speechless. Maybe he was already falling. “I think you should have a dark red dress” Tess said. “Or maybe ocean blue” Liz added. “Ladies, time for the mall after school” Isabel grinned and rubbed her hands together. Maria gave them a nervous look. “Okay, you’re starting to worry me. Should I get armed?” “Maybe you better, shopping with Isabel is lethal” Alex chuckled and received a whack over the head from Isabel. “Ow!” “Watch your mouth sweetie or no more nookie” she playfully warned Max made a grimace and covered his ears. “Please, no more…catching you two making out on the floor last night was enough to give me mental issues” The others just laughed at him and Liz padded him on his back. ********** “This place is pretty…um…strange” Maria said and stared at the surroundings around her. Tess placed her arm around her shoulders and laughed. “It’s a shopping mall and today we’re here for some serious shopping” “I don’t have any money” “Don’t worry about it” Liz smiled. “We’ve got it covered” Isabel hocked her arm around Maria’s arm and began walking towards the elevators. “Come on, time to get started” After about two hours they decided to take a break at an ice cream bar. “So really Maria, what do you think about Michael?” Liz asked. “Yeah, enlighten us” Isabel grinned and ate some of her ice cream. “He’s okay I guess” Maria answered and studied the three other girls. “What are you getting at?” “If you like him more than just a friend” Tess said and nudged Maria in the side. “Well, do you?” Maria sighed a little. “I can’t think like that, I shouldn’t think like that, don’t make me” Isabel shrugged her shoulders. “Fine, enough pestering for one day but we’re not through with this discussion. I finally told Alex I loved him yesterday” “You did?” Tess and Liz gasped. “That’s so great” Tess cheered “It felt wonderful” Isabel said with a delighted sigh. “It’s almost scary how wonderful everything seems now” “Your brother said he pictured us at our wedding dance last night” Liz admitted with a small blush. “I thought it was so romantic” Tess pouted slightly. “Kyle hasn’t said he loves me yet” “He will, he’s just scared” Liz said with a reassuring smile. “He does love you” Maria couldn’t help but smile as she listened to the discussion between Isabel, Tess and Liz. They were so emotional, something she had been taught to avoid but seeing all these emotions up close was beautiful. They were all so in love it made them shine and it hurt a bit knowing that this was a thing she should avoid. Love isn’t forever like her…or is it? TBC |
