“Are you sure you’re comfortable?” Tess asked for the fifth time in one hour as she lay in her big bed together with Maria. “Yes” Maria groaned. “Hell Tessa, I’m used to sleeping on the ground” “Tessa?” Tess asked. Maria turned around in the bed and looked at the blond lying beside her. “Yeah, Tessa” she smiled. Tess returned the smile. “I like it” there was another silence but after five minutes Tess asked once more. “You sure you don’t want an extra pillow?” “Tessa!” Maria sighed. “I’m fine, honest” “It’s just that I…uh…well, I’ve never had anyone staying at my place before” she said quietly. Isabel, Liz and her wasn’t that good of friends either. It wasn’t like they were enemies or disliked each other; they just didn’t have the same interests. “Don’t worry, you’re doing just fine” Maria chuckled. “So tell me, about your alien side” “There’s not much to say. We stepped out of our pods when we where four years old and we’ve been living in Roswell ever since. Max, Michael, Isabel and I, we’ve all had past lives where we were the royal four of our planet but we don’t remember anything of it” Tess said Maria nodded and stared up into the ceiling. “What’s your past name?” “Ava” “Ava” she said as if tasting the name. “I like it, it sounds like you. Queen Ava” “This is hopeless, I can’t possibly fall asleep right now” Tess exclaimed and threw away the covers. “Are you sleepy?” Maria shook her head. “Not really” she answered and crawled out of the bed and walked over to the window. It was still night outside and the sky was filled with stars. Tess watched the wings on Maria’s back that sneaked out from the top that Tess had leant her. “Your wings…they’re beautiful, it’s like I can almost see them grow into real wings” Maria gave her a mysterious smile. “Yeah, almost” The silence once again filled the room and Tess made her way to stand beside Maria by the window. “Don’t you want to go home?” “I was born here and all I know about is earth so this is my home now. But yeah, sometimes I wish I could at least visit my other home” Tess answered truthfully. “You must miss Amarylon so much” “I do, I miss its nature and everything in it. I miss the big green forests, the waterfalls, the rivers, the plains…here you seem to take all that away. You destroy so much without thinking twice” Tess sighed and nodded her head. “Yeah I know. Oh, hey…I wanna show you something” Maria felt herself being pulled towards another door and watched as Tess opened it. Tess gave Maria a nervous glance before pushing the door open, after all she’d never shown anyone her own private garden before. “It’s amazing Tessa” Maria said and looked around the room that was filled with different kinds of plants. “Really? You really think so?” “You gotta believe in yourself more Tessa, in the end self doubt can bring you down” Maria smiled and then kneeled down beside a rose bush. “You’ve really loved them…I can feel it” Tess’s face grew into a full smile. She liked it. She saw Maria walk over to a bush that was on the verge of dying. “I’ve tried practically everything, it just won’t bloom” Tess sighed. “It was my favorite” Maria gave her a small nod and touched a leaf. “Come here” she said. Tess did as she was told and Maria placed Tess’s hands around the root and then placed her own hands on top of Tess’s. “What are you doing?” Tess whispered. “Shh” Maria smiled and suddenly a soft blue light evolved around their hands. Tess gasped as she felt a warm feeling rush through her and she could have sworn she heard a rhythmic beating coming from the plant in front of her. The blue light danced upwards and soon surrounded the whole plant and Tess saw the plant grow strong again, its leaves becoming green and beautiful purple flowers appearing. “Oh my God” Tess whispered with a smile, afraid to break the moment. “I can feel it breathing” Maria laughed softly and took away her hands as the light died down. “It’s alive again, a present for you letting me stay here” Tess’s baby blue eyes stared at the other blond. “Are you kidding? You don’t have to give me anything…but thanks, that was…beautiful” “I know” Maria said quietly and stared at the plant. Tess sat in comfortable silence as well, still feeling the warmness from Maria’s connection and that’s the way they sat for the rest of the night. TBC |
