Fate, Reason, and Destiny - Chapter 1 Throwing her bag over her left shoulder, she looked around. A small smiled played on her lips. So this was Shohoku... She fidgeted in her skirt. Her silver rimmed glasses were pushed back up before they fell off her nose, and she sighed. Shohoku... would it be as bad as her old school? **Later** "Your classroom is the third one on the second floor. Can you make it up there alone?" She smiled tightly. "Of course." she said quietly. Her Japanese still wasn't that good. As she made her way to the second floor and wondered why they couldn't have elevators. She frowned. Third from the left or the right? Not wanting to have to make the trip back to the first floor again Ah! I'll die!! She paused. "It wasn't my idea to come to this school in the first place" she muttered to herself. Walking down the corridor, not really looking, she collided with another student as she entered. Falling back, her bag skidding across the room, she cursed very vividly in English. "That f-..." as she looked up with a glare, it suddenly melted at the towering figure looked down at her. She glared back. She was never the loud type, but she was fed up with her luck! "Watch where your going mister!" she yelled in English. Then realizing that this student probably didn't understand English, she tried to figure out how to say it in Japanese. "Are you okay?" came the voice. A large hand reached forwards, and she took it. "My name is Akagi, are you new?" he said it in English, yet it was slightly hesitant as if he was only talking in English for her sake. She stared for a moment, and then closed her mouth. "I'm... er..." she blushed. This tall, dark figure intimidated her. Walking over for her bag, she looked back with a slight smile. "Hai." she said. "I am new." Her Japanese wasn't that good; her friends, family, and everyone else who knew a little bit of Japanese had to teach her before her father's company had transferred him. But she wasn't bad. Reading comics helped. "My name is Sunny." she said quietly. "Son Ny?" the man quirked an eyebrow for a moment. She smiled. "Sunny. I'm a freshman, you see, moved from...Singapore," she said quietly. It's hard speaking in Japanese! She looked up, remembering her old school. It was true, memories always got rid of the bad stuff, and made everything look good… He stared at her for a moment. "You are Japanese?" he said in English. "Or...from Singapore?" She smirked. "Iya." she pointed to herself. "Korean." She was proud of her heritage. Why was she going to a local school? Because… that was all they could afford at the moment. Plus, she knew enough Japanese. After all, her mother spoke Japanese fluently. "Gori!" came a loud voice. Both turned to see a slightly shorter man yet still very tall with flaming red hair charge down the hall way with a couple of students after him. The Sakuragi Gundam Sunny peered from behind Akagi to watch. Spotting her, the red head paused for a moment. "Sakuragi, this is Son Ny." "Sunny." she said softly, correcting him. The red head watched her for a moment. "Hajimemashite Sakuragi san?" she said politely, looking up at him. She wanted… no, she craved friendship. Back at her old school, it hadn’t been that… happy. "Oh." he said, and blushed. The people behind him snickered, and she frowned. Did she say something wrong? -You must remember, girls don't pay him much attention- "I am fine, thank you for asking." Sakuragi said, still blushing. Sunny watched for a moment with a mixture of confusion and amusement, and then smiled. "I'm lost here, Sakuragi san, could you help me please?" she said. "My Japanese is not very good." He turned slightly more red, and she grinned at the way his skin color seemed to compliment his hair color... both a vibrant red. She heard the name Haruko mentioned, and turned to hear a very soft and sweet voice. "Sunny, you are to be in my class." said a girl. Sunny saw a small girl with brown hair and bright blue eyes watch her with a friendly look on her face, and smiled back. "You are...?" "Haruko." she said. Sunny felt someone stiffen up behind her, and saw Sakuragi watch the brunette with lovesick eyes. She chuckled. There had been a couple like that in her old school as well... it was sweet, the way he was eyeing her, yet she didn't really seem to notice. "Well, you don't want to be late do you?" came her voice. "On your first day?" Sunny grinned, and smiled back. Maybe Shohoku wouldn't be so bad... During lunch Sunny picked up her sandwich and walked outside. She watched Haruko leave with two of her friends, and smiled. No, she didn't want to spend her first lunchtime with others today. The school still unnerved her. She wasn't used to this. At her old school, they sat anywhere they wanted, the class was a mix of boys and girls in uniforms that seemed different on each person -shorter skirts, bigger tops, etc- yet here... She smiled. She did not want to admit it, but she had craved for something like this. (Probably came from watching and reading comics all the time…) Deciding it was time to look around (and hoping that she wouldn't get lost before class started) she headed towards the Gym. At the sound of a ball dribbling, she frowned. Wasn't it time for lunch? Being a food freak herself, she didn't understand why someone wouldn't be eating. As she entered hesitantly, she looked in to see a tall boy with dark hair dribbling a ball. As she watched, she gasped. He was... beautiful, deadly when he played. She didn't think she would ever call a guy beautiful, yet in front of her... "Konnichiwa" she said softly, yet loud enough for the boy to hear. He ignored her, and continued shooting. She felt herself get angry as she entered the gym. She didn't like being ignored. Okay, she was a very proud person, and loved to have attention. -What was so wrong about that?- So when such a cute guy decided to ignore her... Walking up to where a cart full of basket balls lay, she placed her sandwich in the corner, picked up a ball, and threw it with all her might straight at the boy. It missed him by a couple of centimeters. Yet this caused him to turn around and glare at her. Sunny was taken back by the color of his eyes, that she almost didn't catch the coldness in his... well, personality. She blushed, embarrassed by her actions, but too proud to apologize. "Yes?" he said quietly, watching her. Sunny opened her mouth to speak, yet closed it again. What was she suppose to say to the most compelling guy, who stood in front of her with a basket ball and seemed angry with her? "Aren't you hungry?" She could have killed herself for that. This just wasn't her day... He stared at her for a moment, yet couldn't help but sigh. This girl was standing there, watching him through her glasses and seemed to be... fighting with herself. She was a short little thing, only about 160cm with slightly long black hair she wore down. She wore a hopeful expression on her face, and he didn't remember seeing her around school. Sunny watched him for a while, getting impatient. She was still embarrassed about what she said. (Damn, where was the Guide to Flirting with Hot Guys when she needed it?!) "Well? I've got two sandwiches. -My mom thinks I eat so much, but I'm not such a pig. It’s ham and cheese. Surely you must eat ham and cheese sandwiches.” She said with a grin. Picking them up, she unwrapped them form the cling wrap, and held her hand out. He stared at it for a moment, and then picked it up. “Arigatou” he said softly. Sunny grinned at him, confused by his actions. Why was this guy so quiet? It unnerved her -she didn’t like the silence, and she hated trying to start a conversation-. As they sat down -were they allowed to eat in the Gym?- Sunny frowned. What was she suppose to say? “Do you always play basketball during lunch times?” She inwardly smacked her head against the wall. He watched her for a moment, and bit into the sandwich. After a few moments, he opened his mouth. “Sometimes.” Sunny rolled her eyes. It would be easier talking to a dead fish! Yet she didn’t want to leave him. She liked the way he was quiet, the way his blue eyes seemed so cold. Sitting for a moment, she sighed. “Well then, I’m finished. I’ll see you tomorrow.” She said, and got up. She grinned. “Remember, next time I might not miss.” She said, looking at the basketballs expectantly. As she walked out of the Gym, proud that for the first time she had said something smart, she was over flooded by women. “Why were you alone with our Rukawa-kun?!” “Who gave you permission to be alone with Rukawa-kun?!” “You're not his girlfriend, are you?” “Why did you share your sandwich?!” She cursed inwardly, and fixed a smile on her face.
