SAY HELLO TO MISSIE
Missie was an eleven year old female Poodle mix.
She was white with black markings on her head, ears and along her back.
Missie's Mistress, who had raised her from the time she was about eight
weeks old, had passed away about two months before I first saw her and
she had been kenneled all that time. There was a very real possibility
she would be destroyed if a home could not be found for her, so we brought
Missie home to be a part of our family. Missie was a very gentle little
dog, and one of the most intelligent I have ever seen. She tried to make
Bud behave, but that is another story. Missie developed congestive
heart failure, and she had an enlarged heart. She took lasix just like
humans do, and if I forgot to give it to her on time she would remind
me. I would
hold the pill up in front of her and say "open" and she would drop her lower
jaw to open her mouth. She took medicine better than most human children.
She did not appear to be in pain, although she had coughing spells and
got short of breath sometimes. Over all she was fairly active, up in an
instant when she saw Bud doing something he was not supposed to be doing.
I wish we could have continued to be blessed with her presence for she certainly become an integral part of this family.
The Health Problems became to much for Missie. We had to have Her put down on Oct.26,1998. She will be missed for a long time.
