My mom had always told me that the time flies when you have children and she was
right. It was like I woke up and Alex was a year old. It was so scary to be siting there watching my little boy, knowing he was only a week away from being a year old. Alex had learned to walk, more waddling but he was moving on his own and, and boy was he like his dad. I had kept up with Aj and Nick. I learned that Aj was somewhat of a daredevil and I would be damned if Alex hadn't inherited that trait from his dad. Instead of holding onto furniture to walk, he just barreled through the room as fast as he could. I cringed every time I saw him take off. If he ever hit the floor, he would look around then look at whoever was near him and bust out laughing. It was cute but God it made me nervous. I was going to have a hand full when he got older.
Alex looked over his shoulder at me when the doorbell rang.
"I wonder who that is Alex." I said picking him up tickling his tummy. I grinned as I opened the door seeing Becca on the stoop.
"How's my favorite little man." She said as she took him from my arms.
"Bebe!" Alex had named her and she beamed as he wrapped his chubby arms around her neck.
"Hey girl. How are you?" She said as she settled Alex on her hip.
"I’m fine what are you doing?" I noticed the bag on her arm.
"I went and got a movie for you and Alex." She handed me the bag and as I looked at the cover of the DVD I felt the tears prick my eyes again. It had been almost 2 years and it still hurt to see him.
"Backstreet Boys: Standing Room Only." I read the title and looked at her. She took the case from my hand and walked into the living room with Alex. Becca put the DVD in and hit play. I watched Alex as Aj flashed onto the screen. The tears poured down my face as I realized that I couldn't keep him from his father. It wasn't fair to Alex. If Aj didn't want him then I would keep that pain from Alex.
