Do you have your ticket? Kathleen asked her daughter as they stood at the train station.
Yes, it is in my purse.
Call me when you once you reached Chicago, so I know you made it okay.
I promise mom. Melissa smiled at her. Im going to miss you.
Kathleen hugged her daughter. Im going to miss you too. Ill be up to see you next month.
Perfect, Ill show you around Chicago and we can do some shopping.
They pulled apart. Us shopping, that is dangerous for our wallets.
Melissa laughed and pushed her purse back onto her shoulders.
MEL! Samantha yelled as she and Brian made their way to her. Im going to miss you so much. She quickly hugged her.
What are you guys doing here? She smiled once the broke apart.
You didnt think we would come to see you off? Brian asked hugging her.
I just figured we said our goodbyes at the party.
Its not goodbye, its see you later. Samantha replied as Brian wrapped his arm around her waist.
Yup, Sam and I are coming to see you often, so you better get use to see our faces.
I look forward to it. She grinned at her family. She was going to miss them so much. I better go, I dont want to miss my train.
Everyone gave her a quick hug goodbye. Remember to call. Kathleen stated.
I promise. She started towards the train, but turned around. I love you all. She blew them a kiss and headed to the train.
Ticket, please. Melissa handed him her ticket and she boarded the train. She found an empty section of seats and sat down. She laid her luggage in the vacant seat to the right of her. She looked out the window at all the people hurrying to get to their trains. Not her, after last night dream or whatever it was, she seemed calm with everything. It was so strange; she couldnt remember any of it. She just remembered feeling at peace.
Ringringring.
Melissa dug into her purse, searching for her phone. Hello?
Mel, its Nick.
Nick, why are you calling me?
I didnt want to leave things the way they were between us.
Melissa sighed. Me too.
Good, look out your window. She glanced out and saw him standing on the platform, looking straight at her. She flipped her phone shut and exited the train.
What are you doing here? Melissa asked face to face with him.
Im making a last chance attempt to make you stay and give me another chance.
Nick.
I love you so much, Mel. I cant lose you again. You are my heart.
I love you too, Nick. But
No, buts, just say you will stay. Give me a second chance.
I cant.
Nick bowed his head and then looked at her. I had a dream about your dad last night. He told me to never give up on you. And I never will, no matter what.
I know that Nick.
He also told me to not worry about Bella that he was taking care of her.
Train 35 to Chicago will be leaving in five minutes.
I have to go, Nick. Seeing him and hearing him talk about Bella was too much. She kissed his cheek and got back on the train. She found her sit and sat down. Melissa looked out the window and saw him still standing there.
She leaned back in the seat and closed her eyes.
There are no guarantees in life.
You need to decide if you can picture your life without Nick in it.
Life is so short to be unhappy. You have to take the moments you have with your loved one and cherish them.
And dont worry about Bella, Im watching over her too. I love you.
Suddenly all the memories from last night came rushing back to her. Dad. Her eyes opened up. She sat up in her sit, she remembered everything.
You came to see Nick. In that moment, Melissa knew what her decision was. Somehow she always knew, deep down inside she always knew. She quickly grabbed her luggage and purse.
Melissa ran off the train and stopped, looking for Nick. Finally she spotted him and he saw her too. She dropped everything and ran to him. She ran into his arms and kissed him. They pulled apart, keeping their foreheads resting against each other.
What are you doing? Nick asked breathless from the heated kiss.
I choice you. Melissa smiled.
I dont understand.
I had a decision to make whether I wanted to live my life without you. I have made my decision. Im staying. Nick didnt hear anything else and kissed her again. Once they broke apart, Nick picked up and spun her around. He set her back down on the ground and looked at the woman he loved.
Thank you for giving me a second chance.
